If you buy the common reliable gas engines, and stick to timing chains, you really don't have to do much. Our 4runner has 260k miles and hasn't ever had anything done but engine oil, trans oil, and differential oil. Trans and diff oil will still be done on electric cars.

I have a 300k Ford F250 gas that also hasnt had anything done basically.

And while for trucks the electric vs gas is huge, my Chevy Volt costs per mile about the same to operate on gas vs electric, because electricity is $0.46 a kwh in my California region.

I sold cars for a living so I pay attention to randoms in cars more than most probably. The amount of people (mostly women) sitting WAYYY too low in their car is shocking. I don't know how they can even see most of what's near in front of them.

The way too close to the steering wheel also shocks me, but I guess with that one theyre going to just hurt themselves.

When id sell a car, or even on test drives, I'd try to help them adjust the seat to a sane position but most people that do it wrong seem to be pretty set in their ways and don't want to change it even with some friendly advice and showing them the seat goes way up. It's almost like they don't like looking bigger in their car or something.

For sure drunk driving increases your odds of an accident. But people make it sound 3-4 beers and you're bound to have an accident. We should be more honest about it.

I worked in car sales. Most of my coworkers drove drunk once a week or more. So basically I've seen 10+ people drive drunk 100+ times, and no doubt they do it more outside my view. No one ever had an accident.

Those are real tech IMO. Consumer media type software isn't 'tech', at least not regular useful software sense. That would be like calling addictive drugs and slot machines an innovation or technology.

On that note though, most car salesman are somewhat stupid, although the best ones are atleast normal. (I was a cal mechE grad and top 0.2% nationwide car salesman). They also slowly brainwash themselves into believing most of what they say.

What's crazy is these people want to invest decent money to use AI/LLMs, but somehow don't think to just ask an AI chat bot which would easily answer it for them and any follow-up questions.

That's clever, and I can't imagine or explain it as easily. Something to do with a reference point moving away from you so when solving for bringing it back to zero it's different than just adding the two energies back together. You have to add up the energy of catching them all up to the initial starting reference. I think also because distance is one unit, so moving reference pointe is easier. Moving reference points on distance over time already gets my spidey senses going that it's not something you should do without some real understanding.

Because things like energy are relative. So if you label the ground 0, and go up 10 feet, you get x energy. Going up another exact same x from your 10 foot ladder spot you could now call 0 again, would mean you gain x energy again. Since they're both the same height, and you gained the same energy, you could infer double the height has double energy.
