Find your thing(s).

You can work a job you don't like as long as it fuels your other hobbies.

You can work an all consuming job and love every second of the grind and have no hobbies.

Most people find something in between.

Learn, you are lucky to live at a time (and place) when the worlds information is right at your fingertips.

Figure out your goals and then figure out a plan to get there.

while 200M might seem like a lot, and every little bit helps. Apple alone has $195.57 billion in cash on hand to spend.

These companies look at what they can spend that seems a lot for common people just so those people buy Apple products because of "status."

Considering this was them less then a year ago.

Et Tu, Signal? 5 years ago

It sounds like they are trying to increase their revenue/profits and think this is the best way. I get that it is hard, because when everyone is anonymous then it is hard to collect money from people. Perhaps make some way to donate/subscription for signal a la pay what you want? I love Signal and would pay for it if I could.

I was really hoping that Ubuntu Touch would have filled this market. I was excited for it to come out and then it never did.

I just wanted a phone that works as a phone and then I can plugin to a dock and I get a full linux desktop experience.

It's still a thing, but nowhere near what it was when they were trying to launch an actual phone.

So corporations are mad because of high taxes and regulation and move to state where there is less of all the above, what else is new?

Hell, we are at the point where corporations just throw out they are going to move somewhere and states throw tax breaks at them for the promise of X number of jobs - which never ends up happening.

Sounds like SpaceX should get on mining this asteroid as quickly as than can.

What's better to boost the company stock then saying that have $10,000,000,000,000,000,000 dollars worth of rare metal claimed.

(I understand that it's probably a net loss right now to do a mining operation.. but that doesn't mean it will stay that way in the next decade)

spartapride creator here. facebook and twitter are there because of the "see recent facebook posts" and "see recent twitter posts" on the right side of the website.

The 30 other trackers from discus were loaded because of discus. When I setup the site originally my adblock/tracker blocker actually blocked discus so I never saw the other trackers being loaded.. When themarkup pointed it out to me I ended up allowing discus through and saw all the other trackers being loaded.

Thanks to them, I removed discus from my site. :)

I'm not a web developer, the server is running ghost blogging platform with a theme.

Creator of the spartapride.org website here! Crazy to see my name pop up in a hackernews post!

This was actually a case of being too tech savy. When I setup spartapride I had all my tracker blockers on and because of that disqus was not loading (hence the like 30 more trackers not loading)

Needless to say the nice people at themarkup contacted me and we had a nice interview/talk.

I allowed the discus tracker through and saw the other 30 being loaded and was just like, "Yep.. that's not worth it" and I ended up removing discus from the site. :)

Lesson learned.

I would completely switch to Linux if they offered onedrive and office 2019 (not office 365).

I think it will happen soon, within the next year. Edge first, then office, finally onedrive

I will never buy another apple product because of this. Like if I buy a MBP I want IO, how hard is this to understand.

Needless to say my thinkpad x1 carbon is amazing and I will probably be a thinkpad customer for a long time!

I get it, but the author completely misses the point when it comes to the exchange of power between people.

Think man vs women Black person vs police Boss vs employee

suddenly culture A breaks down because people in power get upset and then abuse their power. I guess you can say "they are only in charge of their emotions" but when people can be fired or killed, it stops being a thing.

I've been in culture A (the military / still identifying as male): and there is a good time for it, you don't care about someones feelings in the middle of the mission

I've been in culture B (civilian life / out as a transwoman): Culture B is nice because when done correctly (sure it's hard), it lets people show their own emotional vulnerability and allows others to understand and take into account that there are people out there that grew up with widely different experiences other than yourself.

Also when the default norm is basically white male culture, once you see it from the other side you realize how bad it actually is.

(I'm aware I will probably be down-voted)

I got a lot better and faster at typing when I switched to a das keyboard without key labels. It forced me to learn and not rely on looking down at the keys.

10/10 would recommend.. also it stops noobs from using your box.

I'm not sure, but I might be able to shed some light on this growing up in a "boys" world and then coming out as trans and transitioning to female.

I have also spent 6 years in the Navy (on submarines in an all male environment) before I transitioned.

Toxic masculinity is a real thing, the amount of men don't cry, men don't show emotion, and the large amount of "locker room" talk involving treating women as sex objects was incredibility high.

I've been in these male spaces, not saying anything, but watching and I can truly tell you, it's completely disgusting.

In the end, I'm actually sad that most men don't feel like they can talk about their vulnerabilities and emotions. It's a hard world to live in like that.
