What is inflation? 5 years ago

Cryptocurrencies can have inflation too. All it takes is to change a few settings in code. Some cryptos already changed their monetary policies.

And somehow daily trading volume is 10x higher than actual transactions on network. It is almost like someone is printing money out if thin air.

Did you visit public library recently? It is closed or full of homeless people. Scihub and laser printer is much better option!

For $50/hour you can find experts in most fields. You could even hire underpaid postdocs who teach at unis.

One more reason to skip uni. Remote only experience for full price with orwelian nightmare included. All documentation and lessons are online for free. You do not need human text to speech engine that costs 30k/year.

Always Be Quitting 5 years ago

》making yourself replaceable”; “deprecating yourself”; “automating yourself out of your job”

That is horrible advice. How about:

You quit, and get hired back at 5x rate as consultant, because nobody understands the system. It is not your job to fix broken management!!

For most people the goalpost has moved so far, it is not even visible. Maybe it is time for another goalpost: do not take student loans, do not get married, and you will do fine.

Laser printer and printing all books and documents. About 300 pages/week.

8x4k 27" screens in portrait mode plus TV. I connected laptop and two desktops with Barrier, so all share single mouse, keyboard and clipboard.

I found it better to work on multiple machines simultaneously. Background tasks do not slow it down. And connecting 9 displays to single machine is tricky. It is cheap junk, but looks like power plant control center. And productivity gain is there.

Vivaldi 4.0 5 years ago

I think it follows spirit of old Opera 12 very well. It is even opensource (kind of).

Chinese would be happy to pay for it for sure. Money spend on ISS could be used on new space station or other space programs, for example to gain chip independence. Russia is trying to be more self-sufficient, there is political backing for that.

ISS has questionable scientific value, all those vibrations prevent most scientific experiments like crystal growth. And NASA runs it like flying hotel for space tourists and now "disabled astronauts".

Alder Lake will implement big.Little, which has been used for many years in the smartphone space to improve power efficiency. Hence, by combining high performance and high frequency cores

Windows CPU scheduler does not handle variable CPU cores. They differ in performance and CPU instruction support etc..
