It's like healthcare in the US: Since people can't opt out of it

We do not have a national healthcare system as most of the world does. We are not forced to have healthcare. Yes there are provisions of Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act that charge a tax penalty if you are not covered or exempt.

I don't know the realities of the weird city life Americans experience, but the places I've lived in Europe make this trivial.

I have lived in poor rural America. Here is some information for you that might help: There are no forms of public transportation. You are required to own your own car or have someone drive you. Work is usually 1 hour or more away. The grocery store is usually 30 minutes to 1 hour away. There are usually fast food restaurants within a few miles. Don't forget that America is gigantic in area and very spread out in the rural areas. However after telling you this, when I was a child we did go grocery shopping and ate things like crock pot roast beef and hamburger helper.

It seems, after reading all of these comments that the ONLY significant improvement of highdpi is Font Rendering. I am a 3d artist and do not run HiDPI as it is a waste for my user case. I can see how most people don't do artwork and prefer the font rendering of HiDPI. Please don't think we all want nice font rendering, sometimes we need that 100% scaling.

16:10 was the perfect aspect ratio. I held onto my 24" 1920x1200 Dell Monitor until just last year. I recently tried to upgrade to a new 16:10 and it was impossible. Disappointing.

Not everyone is a rich American or European, many people live in what would be considered a poor country. They might have a core2duo if very lucky. The entitlement on this website is getting out of hand.

I'm just horrible with acronyms because I work in IT and the health industry, previous the security industry. They all have acronyms and the same acronyms. So they all mean different things to different people. Acronyms are a lazy person writing and you have to be "in the know" to know what they stand for. 100 years from now, no one will be able to understand them.

Here in Colorado, I have none of your problems. The wait is usually 0-10 minutes for me. I can check their inventory online for most dispensaries, even pre-order only for some places. I can also call and ask them. The values are cheaper than the black market or about the same. I am starting to be able to pay with my credit card now, but primary it still is cash. The products I buy are amazing in quality. You didn't say which state you are in, so I'm guessing Oregon? I went in to a dispensary when I was there a few years ago and I felt like I was in a drug den. You had to sit around with a bunch of gross people, and had to have a consultation with a doctor... yeah I walked out of there and went to Washington.

Ah yes, the flood of foreign language TV shows and movies that we have no interest in watching. The problem is, Netflix has lost all of these licensed products and are forced to created original content. The golden age of streaming is dead. We now have cable/satellite style streaming services. Instead of 1 big bundle, we now have 2-6 streaming services paying roughly the same amount. At least there are fewer commercials.
