Well you would have to know how to code in k, not just q, the syntax is a lot more terse and there are a lot of features missing

Is this tongue in cheek?
Not really, if you want your new platform to instantly become one of the most used websites in the world. Why should he care about twitter's brand name?
Could also be why you can't find a job. You may be too expensive, and they're looking for engineers in the sweet spot of cheap/can keep the machine running.
Wow its not even an international agreement, it's just straight up an American law for Israel's benefit in particular
Maybe they want Putin to invest more and more and grind Russia down slowly? Losing too quickly would leave Russia with too much left? Of course, the cost of such a strategy would be borne by the Ukrainians, who pay in blood.
I think this has been the conventional wisdom for a while. One thing I ask people who are vociferous in their support of Ukraine (and our paying for that support) is, how is this going to end?
Russia quietly bleeds out and overthrows Putin? Is that realistic? If Putin is a madman dictator, do you really think he'll just whimper and disappear? It seems necessary that a negotiation take place at some point, and that negotiation result in lost territory for Ukraine. It's not a question of justice, but practicality.
I'm sorry, appealing to in-group/out-group bias is a horrible way to address a point, regardless of what the point is.
Why would they want less time spent on the site? That's optimal perhaps for the user not site, and the article discusses how the site is designed to keep the user searching.
Also, these sites had a play on hovering over a video thumbnail feature that youtube copied
I'll give it a read, thank you!
Out of interest, does anyone have any book/article/resource recommendations for writing a programming language? This is something I would like to revisit, not to write a 'good' language, but to revisit all the concepts I was introduced to in college in practice rather than in theory.
I'm not sure that I like the term 'Web3', as it implies that everything will move in that direction, which I don't think will be the case. I just refer to it as the Decentralized Web. Centralization has many benefits over Decentralization and vice versa. Its a very healthy thing to happen though.
I do think it has a place, and is a promising emerging market. Which is why I've been interested in learning development in that area.
Thank you. I'm not aware of the complications of developing an anti-viral for this disease (and I'm not going to go into the debate around existing anti-virals). I did not intend to be dismissive of the effort involved. I'm coming at it from a place of real frustration.
I can't see how this pandemic ends without an effective treatment.
Vaccines are specific and usually take years to produce (this time being the exception), it was more of a question than a statement of fact because I genuinely don't know (hence the use of 'surely', it seems intuitive to me but I really can't say.)
>Or would you rather that they stopped the development of vaccines completely and focused just on the treatment of symptoms?
No, but surely it would be easier to produce an antiviral for home use that would alleviate the symptoms of Covid-19, rather than relying on the development of a vaccine, and then demanding almost universal uptake for it to work?
Then we could have had vaccines for the sick, elderly, immunocompromised and whoever else wanted them after a while, and treatment of symptoms for everyone else.
We knew, pretty much from the beginning, that Covid was here to stay. I would like to know what the path out of this pandemic is now, now that we still aren't discussing treatment and are talking about additional boosters.
Why do people keep saying this? I have literally never received a flu shot, they have always been reserved for the sick and elderly
Why not, instead of shots, do these pharmaceutical companies not prioritise developing an effective at home treatment for the symptoms of Covid-19? It's very hard to see light at the end of this tunnel, which appears to be becoming a booster merry-go-round.
Also the assassinations of MLK and RFK. But at this point there are so many "weird dudes acting alone" that that in itself becomes suspicious.
This is the kind of post I would expect to see on Reddit, not here.
It's up there with "Porn viewers are more likely to be respectful of women" on the science sub-reddit, I didn't even bother to read the article because come. on.
It's already gone from the front page.
I think there is enough evidence now to pause the vaccine for young people, like Sweden and Denmark have done. It's simply not worth it for a young person.
Yeah, imagine the holocaust with these drones, or any of the surveillance tech we have these days.
If a G7 state were to change in that way again, they would almost certainly achieve their eradication goals

It depends entirely on an individual immune system detects and combats a particular infection.
Pardon my ignorance, but does this mean by contrast that vaccines are designed to induce a uniform response across immune systems?
EDIT: A reply (deleted before I could respond) mentioned that immune systems will combat the infection by some "pattern" of it's own design, but a vaccine will encourage the immune system to respond in a predetermined way, (increasing likelihood of uniformity, answering my question).
Is this accurate?
Assuming cause of death data is accurate of course.

The crux of it is that suicide rejects the gift of life
"Everyone is responsible for his life before God who has given it to him. It is God who remains the sovereign Master of life. We are obliged to accept life gratefully and preserve it for his honor and the salvation of our souls. We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted to us. It is not ours to dispose of."
Exactly. "Priest teaches Church teaching", woooah, what a radical.
I think secular society (i.e. Big Tech, mainstream media, governments) is treading a very interesting line at the moment, because it simultaneously is ( or at least appears to be) embracing all faiths and cultures, while denouncing them as being inherently hateful (Christianity, Islam).
The idea that they will ever reform and completely 180 on teachings they've stood by for thousands of years is naïve. And if we stand by the idea that we simply cannot tolerate hateful speech, with the definition of hateful becoming broader every day, where will we end up?
The next 10 years will be very interesting
The personal data of everyone who has used the site is in the public interest? Are you high?
Think this is a great idea, quick q:
is this an entirely separate platform, or an integration to Zoom?
I think everyone has experienced the awkwardness of being in a company "party" this season, say one word and you're put in center stage for 60 people, really discourages participation.
I wonder how "natural" you could make the mingle, like if you're in one group and see three people chatting in another bubble (I'm envisioning a panel with all sub-groups in separate bubbles), can you move over non-chalantly? (Don't know why this came to mind immediately, I'm just imagining being trapped in a conversation at a party being 10X worse if there's no way to leave the bubble without everyone immediately noticing lol)
