No it really shouldn't. Just look at JS. It's a complete mess. And HTML would get there in a short time if they were to adopt "anything that can be neatly siphoned". The problem is that data binding is actually quite complex. I have seen data binding done 10 different ways in different languages and they all had their flaws. It will be very difficult indeed to come up with such a standard that is actually being used universally.

If it is not, what sense does it make to add it to the standard? But for it to be used a lot, it would actually need to solve most problems in most businesses for the forseeable future.

Given the fact that the Web apparently still hasn't figured out quite how UI development is supposed to work (judging by the 1 new language feature, 10 new frameworks, 100 new libraries developed each day), it will be a very poor idea to start baking half baked stuff into a standard.

You really wanna go there? Seriously? Nobody forces you to use drugs. It doesn't even harm anyone else directly. I mean here the intent is at least directly to harm people other than the client, while with drugs its just to harm clients.

He has a list of crimes that could wrap buildings in documents, however he is president of the US, which somehow manages to kill more people in a year than this guy could have killed indirectly in a life-time. This is not a reason to use rust. It's like saying "I like Ferraries, because they drive fast", failing to specify WHY you need to drive fast (you usually really don't, unless you are on a race track)

Memory safe. In higher level code you have almost zero justification for `unsafe`, except you really need a C library.

Java, C#, etc.

Immutable by default. Can feel almost functional, depending on code style.

Okay, however this isn't a big win in practice. Java has this too with @Immutable and mostly that's enough.

Yes, Rust looks fine. Let's see how it evolves. Coherent language design is however again not a reason to use rust, because it fails to mention WHY you need it and WHY it solves a business problem better than Java, C# or C++.

Yeah, pretty much all modern languages have that, so it's not worth to even mention. Rust builds are slow, so there is that.

Compared to what? C++? I don't even think there it's true. When comparing to Java or C# library availability and quality is a joke in Rust.

Async is a paradigm that received a lot of criticism lately. It turns out to be cancerous. Fibers will likely replace it and Java is getting it soon. Otherwise yeah, concurrency is something any modern language should solve and maybe Rust has a head-start here. The whole purpose of Rust is focused around safe multi-threading. However other languages don't sleep. You don't switch your company to Rust just because it does one thing better for a couple of years. Other languages will catch up soon.

Even if it violates conservation of momentum, that doesn't really mean anything, since this is all happening on a quantum scale. It would definitely violate physics if you didn't need to apply a constant energy source for this to work, i.e. just one laser beam that spins in there virtually indefinitely while providing thrust. However, that is not the case.

This device presumably requires a reasonable amount of energy comparable to other existing drives. So what might happen here is a potentially unexplained quantum effect. Quantized Inertia seems like a really reasonable idea. Why wouldn't it be quantized? It doesn't even make sense for it not to be quantized.

If you want a 10,000 clock, you bury a radioactive rock with a note about the decay pattern at the time of creation and future radiologist will know how long it's been "ticking". Problem solved.

What are you talking about? unique_ptr contains a pointer, that's it. Yes, to represent a pointer you have to contain a point. Passing it on or not makes zero difference and using a website that return unoptimized C++, is not a good place to gather intel. unique_ptr is zero cost, unless you use it across library boundaries without LTO.

2) When asking the seller why the mint "makes people high", the seller says it's actually weed.

Probably two things. On one hand, our theoretical understanding of quantum effects may not have come far enough to write a traditional simulation program. Or doing so would take years or even millions of years, or both.

Quantum computers can simulate things that are not possible with traditional computers. These problems are in the complexity class BQP. I want to point out though, that this is very likely a result of our limited understanding, and not something that is theoretically impossible.

In Vancouver there is no such things as peripheral vision, but that is not due to mobile phone use. Indicators are also optional. I am impressed how there is not a crash every second. When you drive here with a bike you basically know that any car will just cut your bike-lane at their convenience and turn right at a traffic lite, right into your path...

AFAIK, I can't remember an instance where AWS raised prices. So if they were to undercut someone in prices, they would not be able to raise them again, so I find this scenario unlikely to happen.

There is nothing wrong with being average. You should have enough energy to swim above the event horizon, where bad things happen (i.e. financial instability and job insecurity, the root of all evil).

If you don't have the motivation to be excellent, don't try. There really is no point to it, as the author pointed out. Excellent people have an inner "drive" to get there and they seek tremendous joy from walking that path. If you force yourself to do it, you will always be unhappy and your brain won't be able to compete no matter how much you try because there is nothing more important for success than this: You need to love what you do. But also, you need to be at the right time in the right place, have the right environment to strive and parents who have the ability to support you.

It's always funny to see how school medicine tracks the state of the art by 20 years into the past and then another 40 before it hits the actual doctors and their patients (for the latter part, ongoing re-education requirements might help as to avoid people like my grandma who still thinks after being 30 years out of practice that what she learned after the second world war in her studies is the state of the art of medicine).

For the first part, I have no answer. Something is utterly broken with the way school medicine "innovates".

Sorry, but this doesn't make much sense. Playing Chess and Go to start with is already a kindof questionable use of anyone's time. But if you know that a computer will demolish even the worlds best players, transforms this into a hobby. There is literally no point in spending 20 years frantically training a useless skill that every computer can do better.

Mankind should focus on skills that computers can't yet compete at. Hopefully the point in time will be far off where computers will beat humans at everything, but likewise, once they do, there is no reason for the human race to continue to exist.

You do realize that this feeling is not mutual? Companies don't give a shit about their employees as long as it doesn't benefit them. They are not humans, they are "things" made out of humans. And the trick is that they use social structure to scam you into thinking that leaving the company makes things worse for your other "human" team mates. So yes, right now they want to keep you, but once you are not essential anymore, they will drop you like a hot piece of iron. It's funny that somehow companies manage to instill some sort of "compassion" in their employees and you seem to be an example that this actually works sometimes.

For a few years? What kind of lifestyle do you have that a few millions only last a few years? I really doubt with that math you would have been able to save a few millions in the first place, unless you won a lottery.

This made me laugh :D. Their "best", might not want to work at big tech companies just to exfiltrate secrets. And also their "best" would have an increased chance of being identified in background checks...

They are probably just sending some poor students who are pressured into it an exchange for whatever, if they get anything at all besides "not being punished".

I am curious to why you think working at Google is reserved only for the very best of the field? I don't have good visibility into normal companies, but honestly all FAANG companies essentially employ armies of average developers, although they might have a higher density of exceptional developers than other companies. Mostly they are distinguished by two things:

* They work with economies of scale. What may be viable for a startup might be useless for Google. What might be viable for Google might be absolutely disastrous for a startup.

* They use a management style that fosters innovation and learning.

The interviews can be tough, yeah, but all it takes is practice and given that you seem to have good mathematical skills, hiding a few weeks or months in the basement with an algorithms book and a laptop, should make it easy for you to pass a Google interview.

It's naive to assume that someone working at the airport would actually know whats going on. These are the lowest level employees. They know what they need to know, i.e. "Take the bottle and throw it away". Maybe they give you some smoke screen story like "Ug there could be explosives in there. Or lord knows what."...

I am not sure, but to me it seems common sense that pouring potential explosives and poison into a bin, feels kinda shady...? No?

The real reason why they want you to dump all your stuff is simple. All these 45 million people need to rely on what the airport & planes provides. Lots of money to be made here...

A much bigger hazard: My MacBook with water damage. I am pretty sure the chances are higher that it just bursts into flames during a flight, than someone carrying explosives in a fucking water bottle.
