Bye bye Max plan and Anthropic. Too much noise on Anthropic's billing woes as of late and tbh Codex with newest version is scratching my AI itch. Of course YMMV but at least with OpenAI no surprise billings (as of yet) for the past 4 months.

Rhetorical question- but what is it going to take for the IT Community to start treating Gmail and the rest of the "too big to block" as adversarial entities and actually block them for their bad behavior. Pie in the sky I know.
Nothing- they are just hoping this will blow over.
I wonder if that's on purpose to poison the release. Would make sense. At least it is towards the end of the article.
Major points are also missed. The fee is enabled at the federal law level: 49 U.S.C. § 114 & 49 U.S.C. § 44901
This seems to be on par for this Iowa county which their ignorance sadly has painted a major target on their innocent citizens- related article:
"Dallas County Attorney Matt Schultz told KCCI: "I want to be clear that the decision to dismiss the criminal charges that resulted in this civil case against Dallas County was made by a previous County Attorney. I am putting the public on notice that if this situation arises again in the future, I will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law."

The Italians obviously don't
I'm not sure he brings anything new to the argument, well except a disdain for physicists.
Question bouncing around in my mind reading this, especially with money involved, is why did this not cross the line into criminal fraud?
Wait? They aren't?
Yep
We are a smaller company, only 10 users. We are in the process of fully ditching Microsoft for a full linux stack using Samba for AD (for the leprosy known as Quickbooks alone). I've blocked MS at the pihole and was expecting people to bring torches and pitchforks. The general consensus was we should have done this years ago and how did you make my computer so much faster. To hell with Microsoft and their tripe.
While I appreciate the enthusiasm of the "Czar" the fact of the matter is the industry has had decades to "self police". Let the whole industry burn to the ground- it earned it.
Perhaps a smaller amount? I know the conflict... I'm checking my play money kitty for exactly this. =)
Reminds me of a game I played years ago and they made a minor "tweak" to the code and a bunch of plugin mods no longer worked. Yes Turbine- Asheron's Call was much better with the third-party plug ins, but I still was playing AC even with my fancy UI on top of it. But funny when that change was made all of the cheaters that would set their bots to go camp spawns disappeared and the game got that much better. History doesn't repeat but it does rhyme.
(Now release AC to the public so I can go back to Eastham)
If there were rev sharing / paid you'd be hearing about lawsuits already. Lack of lawsuits tells me the freebie got cut off.
The Chronological timeline is now more obvious on the WWW. I had that as my default before and with the new UI I default into the new "following" tab.
I'll probably get severely downvoted for this but the whole tripe screamed nothing but narcissist who got his free toy taken away.
Permanently end the pattern of rewarding extremely bad behavior from the past. This is so simple and would work.
I know they would not do this but you aren't the only one that thinks in those veins. I'm so tired of all of the pinterest spam I pretty much gave up on google for anything other than code searches which funny enough can be done better and more naturally through a GPT type AI.
Anything- including RFC 2549 based communications. =)
I've had a Google domain for several years hosting my private email, I'm migrating everything to protonmail (including my Companies) in 2023.
FYI- It is the exact opposite. There is zero support without multiple support tickets, their UI is full of antipatterns. I get to pay and not only do they scan my emails (they claim they stopped that practice, sure) they also won't allow Google Workspace (formerly GSuite) to utilize features like Google Family. I have a tertiarty public account that right now I can't access because I'm travelling and have run afoul of the Google gods and in the Admin console zero way to force allow a login. And I'm paying for that wonderful granular control.
I for one hope the wave of GPT based AI wipes them off the face of the internet, they are valueless. Their search is a joke now. They've been adversarial to the user community for years and reminds me the terrible taste of a monopolized- because lets face it that's what they are- ecosystem with ZERO concern or care about their end user. <insert lilly tomlin phone company skit here>
Social media is already a pretty shitty situation, this would fall right into place. =)
This is plainly illegal. Just because it is written in a contract doesn't mean that it will stand up in court. Paypal is opening itself up to major class action lawsuits over this. Liquidated damages are 1) extremely hard to prove and 2) Paypal has to prove that the damages incurred were actually $2500. AG's are going to have a field day with this one.

They are going to fine you.
The irony is not lost on my that at the same time on HN Homepage JUUL is being banned and benefits of THC Carts is being discussed. Exciting, and rather confusing times.
/pol/ is always right.
You know these used to say ... and how you can too... back in the good old days.
"hopefully if we yell loud enough, YouTube will here and fix this!"
Truly love Google's customer service!!!!
