Secret sauce is source control. You can get a matrix switcher and come up with your own controls but smart remotes like URC and Control4 are way more expensive and IMO are less reliable.

Surround speakers need a priority switch if you want matching amp profiles in the home theatre.

I have in ceiling speakers each pair connecting to a sonos amp. Outdoors, in garage, etc. It’s great - for me. I have Play:1s in bathrooms without mics and it can all sync.

Guests can also control it via phone.

What pisses me off:

- Lack of auto firmware updates at night

- Latency with external sources unless you use a sound bar, maybe fixed with port? The connect sucked

- Spotify premium required

- Cost

I completely agree. It should be a fixed price, incentivizing the driver to take the most efficient route.

Everyone is human. Dehumanizing all work interactions sounds pretty depressing.

I think the real problem is considering conversations in jest as evidence. We should all use key base for gossip but not all of us are technical.

You have duct board. It can’t be cleaned, only replaced. If you want to spend a lot look at double wall sheet metal ducts and never let your house sit without dehumidification.

Audio source is my receiver which does not offer this functionality. You’re right, config management will be painful.

Receiver runs Linux and I did get a shell on it, but to be honest this is something I would rather just pay for. I don’t want to risk bricking it.

My use case for whole home audio is to play audio of a sports game that’s playing on TV in the living room.

500ms of latency is far too much. Even Sonos suffers from this with port/connect
