it was a round about way to resolve the issue that google wallet/android pay wasn't accepted at many places. The solution is about as dumb as it sounds. I liked it because it was a really quick and easy debit card essentially. So I would use it at places I didn't trust since I could limit the amount on the card.

Does anyone else feel like there should be a different procedure when the court isn't an expert on the fields in question that our brought up to them? I'm not even sure how to standardize that. Just that I feel like there is an issue how scientific rulings are made.

They aren't crowdfunding with the intent of verifying the safety of their product. They are just crowdfunding to make ample amount of product to start the cycle of selling. The fact that they already have anticipated shipping dates shows that verifying the use of this product from a health standpoint is secondary to their goals.

Why soylent has intrigued me since this first started out. The way they are going about everything makes it feel so much like snake oil...

I'm not liking how they are going about this at all. They should ensure it is safe first before trying to sell everywhere. I don't like the perception of their intents.

It is on the cheap in the sense that they wouldn't expect to screen such people as much. It obviously isn't free, costs more than hiring from within, but cheaper versus trying to gauge recent graduates and the like.

I think it is a bad thing to tell people that their contract position is contract-to-hire. For one, I feel that is always implied. For another, it maybe something that is well-intended but eventually can't happen due to bad circumstances. Lastly, it creates this entitlement feeling of the contractor which he/she doesn't deserve (maybe it is a good thing because it can help weed out potentials... same for interns).

This is something beyond just the games industry. The other issue I have is from the position that he was in. To have clout as QA takes a lot of work. Especially when you are basically doing black-box testing. He has to be on his very best to show that he should be hired. This post doesn't seem to reflect that.

I guess my issue with this is dependent on how the LP videos are done. I've seen boring LP videos where they just play the game. However, there are things like Game Grumps that I typically watch more for their reactions and commentaries moreso than the actual games they are playing.

I've had two different experiences like this. The first is a co-worker that did a different tactic. When someone would ask him if he wanted to get lunch and no idea of where to go, he would ask "rice or noodle?" This somehow always lead us going to a place that had neither of those things.

From what I've seen, the inverse of this seems to also imply where a group will end up going for lunch. I've had co-workers say Costco or Taco Bell "isn't lunch". Because of those negative statements, that is exactly where the group ends up going.

It has been interesting looking at this whole thing from the outside, but there are too many unknowns in my perspective. The fact that he isn't going on with this experiment with regular doctor check ups is crazy.

I love the attitude he has about Soylent, the whole disrupt food industry type thing is like hacker culture invading health science. However, it should be done in a controlled scientific approach. Kickstarter is probably going crazy trying to figure out if they should approve his application.
