You're both way off base.

In practice, Canada is about as close to a monarchy as North Korea is to a democracy.

I have no doubt that many or most do actually love their former king.

The problem is that it's probably not well-founded, given the laws you mentioned ensure virtually all media coverage of the king & royals is never less than glowing.

(Analogy coming to mind is North Koreans shedding true tears for their former leader.)

It's relatively easy to be considered nice when there are strict laws forbidding anyone from saying anything to the contrary.

Given media control in Thailand, there's no doubt plenty of incentive leading those in the media to go out of their way to praise the royal family (deserved or not).

This is authored by a Jay Hanlon, "VP of Community Growth". Apparently, the role includes publishing clickbait.

He squeezes in a humblebrag: "...if you're like me, and still just a little proud that you got off the waitlist and eked your way into a school above your intellectual weight class..."

And he uses scarcity to scare devs into creating a profile: "It only takes a few minutes, and you do NOT want some other joker snapping up the good URLs."

Don't worry, there is no "new technical resume," and you'll be fine. The headline is clickbait.
