I'd say it's about the value of low-cost alternatives from an industry (medical devices) that very often disregards cost entirely.
I understand the precision and expertise that goes into medical devices, and they've saved millions of lives (mine included) — but in countries where $6,000 means something might as well not exist, they need something in-between precision manufacturing or nothing at all.
Feels real to me generally — actors are usually easy to spot, and these would be surprisingly good actors.

I literally caught someone in the act of stealing a package and the police specifically told me to do nothing and file a report. I submitted clear video of a face and apparently this was a known thief to others in the neighborhood, so I even gave them the person's name. They're still stealing packages 6 months later. The police tell me there are warrants pending.
Right, that has happened to me before. I've just returned the item in that case. It seems less likely to happen if the item is fulfilled by Amazon.
I'm at the point now where I've gone from trusting a review consensus to seeking an individual reviewer on a product that seems thorough and reliable.
My favorite example might be trying to find outdoor solar-powered lights. Mountains of garbage, with a lot of sellers just re-branding the same garbage. The silver-lining is that there are power-reviewers out there doing complete tear-downs and reviewing wiring/soldering quality. These people are the true heroes.

The bulk of the design industry is in wealthy countries with an Apple presence.
But yes, there are professional designers who don't use Apple products. They're just not the majority in a global sense, but I'm sure they're the majority in some locales. Hell, there are still designers out there who don't even use a computer.
I'm not sure why this took such a pointed turn.

Honestly they should have abandoned it earlier. Instead of building monoliths of legacy features/code they need to build full-on replacements every 5-10 years. I can't believe they're still actively developing Dreamweaver to this day.
OF course, there's still not a replacement for Fireworks because they just rolled it into one of their other legacy products. XD is still not great.

The American Dream is to accumulate wealth, and often involves looking for a way to get rich quick, some people think they can do it by day trading. There's a certain American stereotype of playing stocks to become wealthy.
The average person is more likely to lose money day trading than gain (especially considering the time sink). It's basically boring slow gambling wrapped in the guise of The American Dream.

It's pretty common to distinguish your font from others with a description in the name, be it sans/serif/slab/mono/condensed/extended, etc — it does communicate "this is a font" clearly but it's also useful when you're in an application just looking at a text list of font names.
It's better for eye charts, not running copy on websites.
