And how would miners convince most exchanges and services accepting bitcoin to use their own Bitcoin implementation instead of Bitcoin Core? Because Bitcoin Core and compatible implementations would just discard invalid blocks and ban everyone who broadcasts them. And after segwit2x fiasco I don't think miners will even try.

Dear Moon 8 years ago

Time has changed. There is just too many information now - news, memes, TV shows, music, etc. And this is just another news in an ocean of other news. People are going to the Moon, cool, now lets check out what that Instagram celebrity that I'm subscribed to has just posted.

I'm also using Windows 10, 4K monitor, Firefox and GTX 1060 and have no issues. So your issue might not actually be related to resolution.

For instance, French Emperor Napoleon gained .49 WAR for his victory at the Battle of Borodino.

Yes he won that battle and probably all other battles in that war. But he has lost the war. Does it make him a good general?

Surely AV1 would be infringing on at least some of HEVC's expansive patent pool

Yes, it probably would, but if these patents are owned by members of AOM it is not an issue

No, it wouldn't. First of all, it is obvious that there will be no consensus. And even if there was consensus it would be very challenging to do because deploying a hardfork takes time while criminal could transfer his money before the hardfork to a different address.

Maybe it is just not a good technology. Just compare it to others:

C++ - memory unsafe, no GC.

Java - memory safe (by default), has GC.

Rust - memory safe (by default), no GC.

D - memory unsafe (by default), has GC.

Authors of Java solved memory safety by adding garbage collector. Authors of Rust managed to make memory safe language without GC while authors of D made a language with GC that is still memory unsafe.

The RGB model that is currently used (sRGB) is just an emulation of CRT-displays, it is not how human vision works. There is not actually much conceptual difference between red and yellow.

And what does this have to do with colors being spectral? If you look at the cie chromaticity diagram you can see that yellow and cyan have wavelength corresponding to them while purple does not.

printing free money

How are they free? You need equipment and electricity.

I have some otherwise very smart friends who are mining coins with GPUs

Do you want to say that mining is stupid? If you mine the right coins and hold them long enough for price to increase you can make a lot of money.

So in 2017 he suddenly realized that visual recognition, speech recognition, etc are done with neural networks. How enlightening!

the value of my original coins drops by the difference in value compared to the new coins (or around that).

Prices of cryptocurrencies are very unstable even without any forks, so what you are describing doesn't make any sense.

The "New York Agreement" was a blog post, it was never a legally binding and enforceable contract.

More important is that those who signed simply have no power to change Bitcoin.

There's a strong argument that the "agreement" was designed to fail, as it's hardly a compromise when party A gets what they want immediately, but party B has to wait.

Yeah, especially when party A doesn't even sign any agreement.
