The main problem is that AOT C# is not as mature on platforms other than Windows, if that.
So, to me, Hejlsberg's choice sounds pretty logical.
After, why go ? why not...
It does the job, so "Who Cares?"
I really enjoyed the Epyx Atari ST version... Do you know if source code (assets, ...) are available somewhere ?
Wow, really nice !!
And very interesting project too...
Thanks !
Very interesting.
Just one (personal) stuff : Stick to 80 columns... Sorry, no ! :)
Nice... SQLite remains an exceptional piece of software !!
Really interesting...
And 100% right about the "over-engineered" part.
The "real" danger for PHP is to end up like Java (not the JVM, Java)
DoubleCmd is amazing to... (and cross platform)
Really nice work which prove, once again, that there is no "bad" langage !!
GFA revival ?
Yes, and stuff like pyside2 are pretty cool too (for people who don't like C++)
Yes, It reminds me when Java has been released for the first time.
The mantra was : "Yes, pretty slow but don't panic, in a couple of months better hardware will fix that" !!
Yes it is true, but in terms of CPU, there is an issue too... (Lots of sub-processes by apps, means higher context switching, etc.)
And If I need 32GB and 16-CPU to run 5 or 6 apps...
Asimov was right after all :)
Yes, that's what I've done... (and not only it)
It is just to illustrate the fact that Electron, after all, might be a real problem for native app.
You're right, Electron app. are ok... If there is only one in RAM !
On my 8 GB computer, I used to run in the same time :
- VsCode (700 MB)
- Teams (600 MB),
- PostMan (350 MB !? WTF)
- WhatsApp (consumes almost 600 MB after 1 hour !)
I had to switch to the web version for the last 3...
In contrast, running 25 torrents with qBitTorrent: ~25 mb.
I agree, because I've seen that in my previous jobs...
Programmers used to say that the GC and its fuc*#=+ STW was a pure mess, but under the hood, they didn't realize (accept ?) in fact the code WAS the mess.
Don't (always) blame the tool !
This software is a piece of magic...
Tauri sounds pretty good, but the look-and-feel of their "app" demo is quite ugly... :(
Very funny :)
Nice proof of concept, really. The challenge is quite interesting... But in the real world, it won't fit at all.
Great job, really...
In the meantime, and even with the help of vue.js, front dev. remains such a mess :(
(But what you did is just pretty cool)
KISS
Java ?
The language of the month... (Can't wait february)
It's Qt not QT
Did you talk about that to Linus :):) ?
They should have used Qt :)
