I don't agree with you on what the term SOTA means. Gemini Pro 3.1 was the only frontier model that had native video input at launch. It was certainly SOTA at some tasks.

the idea that self-identifying as Claude is affirmative evidence that it's not distilled

I wasn't arguing that. I was arguing that even if it was distilled from Claude, the distillation isn't why it identifies as Claude. Therefore identifying as Claude isn't evidence of distillation.

Claude has been caught identifing itself as Deepseek:

I don't take that to mean it's necessarily been distilled on Deepseek.

Gemini was supposedly caught identifying as Claude:

I don't take that to mean it was distilled on Claude.

Claude was caught identifying as ChatGPT:

I don't take that to necessarily mean it was distilled on ChatGPT.

For context you just asked me to read a document that starts with:

"Caveat: fully AI-generated research."

And that you quoted or paraphrased directly.

This behavior is exactly what you'd expect from a model distilled from Claude.

This is not at all what I would expect because it's trivial to change the training data to replace Claude with Kimi. In fact I'd argue it's almost certainly not saying that due to distillation.

Would they have had to disclose a known Apple lawsuit threat in the IPO disclosures? If so that might explain the delay...

Also Apple could have filed the litigation right before the IPO and after a IPO announcement. OpenAI doesn't get to decide when Apple sues them.

Fair use is a defense when using copyrighted data. It is not a declaration that the data isn't copyrighted.

So they are in fact literally putting copyrighted data into the model weights and reselling it.

That's a quickstart page for using the model on the platform not a page about the model. I am skeptical you are correct that it said something about model license earlier.

Edited: I was wrong.

The comment you replied to was making the point that when humans communicate the writing can reveal their thought processes. Outsource that to AI and that thought process is concealed.

This has almost nothing to do with your reply.

He's always been a very horny creator and the original Ghost In the Shell movie (in fairness not directed by him) has the female main character need to get nude to use her stealth ability while the men can leave their clothes on.

Whatever narrative you've invented of Shirow changing over time is a stretch.

Adding to what you wrote the NES was front loaded because it was designed to look like a VCR because they thought that aesthetic would sell better in the U.S.

I don't know why we are making this arbitrary distinction between Mario games and Donkey Kong games.

But if we are the main Mario franchise games are the "Super Mario" games. Donkey Kong is not part of the "Super Mario" series and his "Mario" is not "Super" .

If you're doing such amazing things why the need to gush about Minecraft tweets?

But nobody has nailed "this is a game anyone wants to play" or "professional game development life cycles are shorter" so it's not particularly impressive.

I'm still waiting for any evidence of LLM economic impact in the real world.

How can the AI solve a medical mystery?

I suppose if it says something like "Eat more broccoli" and the suggestion works you can assume the answer is accurate.

But for me it's more likely to say "maybe you have xxxx" and I would still need to see a specialist to do tests like colonoscopies to know?

I suffer from one condition with no cure and little literature and every once in a while I've seen on a related subreddit I no longer read "I'm using AI you guys and this AI SLOP will surely help!!!"

"Some idiot on Twitter did a game tech demo" has been a thing since, like GPT 3.5 or 4.0?

On the other hand on this web site at least I think people ask questions passive aggressively at times.

Instead of honestly saying "I think you are wrong because..." they passive aggressively pretends they are "just asking questions."

Of course on non controversial topics a question is likely to just be a question.

Dualsense's main advantage is the built in trackpad and gyroscope but if you want to play wirelessly you are probably better off switching to the Steam Controller at this point which also has a trackpad and gyroscope. Or if using Windows standard Xbox controller if you don't need a trackpad or gyroscope, as Xbox controllers have first class support.
