Ted Cruz is an extreme outlier. Everyone else in the Republican party hates him. Please don't take his dumb remarks as representative of anyone else.

Netflix is unusable on my Apple TV. I can't even get through a 20-minute TV episode without it dropping to sub-480p quality and/or stopping completely. I've never been able to figure it out. I have the latest generation Apple TV updated with the latest software. I have tried rebooting it, etc.

It's only a problem on my Apple TV. Netflix works flawlessly on my Playstation 3, iPad, iPhone, and PC. My ISP is a regional provider called Mediacom.

He didn't say anything about the quality of Windows RT / Windows Phone products. Sounds like he was just implying that they have a relatively small installed base compared to iOS / Android products. That's pretty hard to argue with.

But... this is not very important anyway. There's no reason to have a "brand loyalty" flame war. Arguing and flaming about this on the internet is not productive. Let's just have a practical discussion about how to target multiple mobile platforms.

If I was serious about writing a cross-platform mobile game, I would use some middle-ware like Unity, Unreal Engine, Cocos (yes there is a version for Windows Phone), etc. This takes care of the underlying differences between OpenGL ES and Direct 3D, so the developer can focus on the game itself and not worry too much about the rendering engine or graphics API.

If I was writing some other app that used OpenGL ES, I could still make a port for Windows Phone / Windows RT by using a wrapper for the graphics-specific code. Such wrappers already exist, and it is not too terribly difficult to roll your own if you prefer.

A lot of times, when you see a big game that is available on iOS, Android, AND Windows Phone / RT, usually they have done this:

- Use middle-ware as discussed above already

AND / OR:

- Write the majority of the logic in C++ (all of these platforms have ways of utilizing C++ code), and use a graphics wrapper that isolates the rendering code, so you can work with OpenGL ES or Direct 3D interchangeably.

I agree with your main point that long-term health is very important, but I'm hoping you're not saying that healthy food and tasty food are mutually exclusive.

In my mind, I think of Soylent as "food for people who don't like food". In the same way I think of Nickelback or American Idol as "music for people who don't like music". There are millions of these people worldwide. But yes, obviously this doesn't apply to 100% of all people.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I simply looked on the front page of HN, and didn't see any Microsoft / Nokia-related articles. So I went out and found some on another site. I can't control what is on the front page of HN. All I can do is search for alternatives. There are a lot of things that I am interested in that I rarely see on HN myself. My problem is simply with your entire approach to your argument. What you are doing is very common on internet forums, and it is a cheap way to "prove" people wrong under any circumstances. It is called black-and-white thinking. Here is the template: "If you think this one small thing is true, then you must think EVERYTHING ever in the entire world is true!!!" Obviously, you will be able to think of some example in the world that is false (even if your example is not what the original person was arguing for or against), so then you will feel like you have accomplished your goal (you have proved the person wrong).

Here, I will use your method of argument against you: You are WRONG to think that "Employee Fuck Room" is an inappropriate name. What if it was in the offices of a company that produces pornography? Then it would be very appropriate here. It would be especially appropriate if this company had very edgy office vibe that encouraged this type of language. Also, what if someone ran a small shop that specialized in distributing super-offensive memes on the internet? They could have a room called "Employee Fuck Room" and get away with it, and one could argue it would be totally appropriate in drumming up the types of ideas they need to run their business. See!! I completely made up a couple examples that show how you could be wrong in some tiny edge case, therefore, you are 100% WRONG.

The world is not black and white. If I think some name is ok, I don't have to think that ALL names are ok. I have a brain that is able to pick and choose. I don't have to just think in black and white, ALL GOOD, or ALL BAD.

Here's a novel concept: How about we just understand that people will disagree with each other once in a while, and move on with our lives. Some people here can think that "Romance Room" is a silly and fun office name, and some people will have no problem with it. Some OTHER people will disagree. And that is fine. You don't need to try to convince everyone to come over to one side or the other. Some of us can just disagree, or agree, and we can just move on with our lives.

You're not always talking to everybody. On Facebook you can create friend lists, and then post things that are only visible to the people in the chosen list, in the same way that you can share things with only certain "Circles" on Google+. For example, I have different lists for "Close Friends", "Family", "Work Friends", "Random Acquaintances", etc. If I choose, I can share a post with only my "close friends" list, and none of my family or work friends will see it.

This problem has been solved already. On Google+ the concept is called "Circles". On Facebook, they call them "Friends Lists". Why does everyone on HN praise Google+ Circles, but ignore or hate the Facebook Friends Lists feature?

How is that a "French" meal? You can eat those types of foods anywhere... I have had many meals that look exactly like that here in the U.S., both cooked at home and out at restaurants.

Don't believe what you read on Reddit, HN, and other websites that hate Americans. Not all Americans eat McDonald's burgers and fries and other crappy processed food for every meal. We are just like anyone else. Some of us (not all) are healthy and eat very balanced and healthy meals, and some of us are in very good shape physically. On the other hand.... some other Americans (not all) are obese, unhealthy, eat bad food. It's a mixture. Not every American is the same. And there is not one "typical American meal" in my opinion.

Then just add some extra vegetables and fruit, if that's what you want...
