We (the general population, not so much us decently-paid software developers) have no money. Technology is not the cause or solution here, people are becoming increasingly less able to afford things by the day.
It can (and does) "get sick" in the sense that anthropic services go down, anthropic rate limits, gets overloaded, etc.
For those who just read the comments, this is a joke. The MPC in the article refers to "multi-party compute".
The irony here is that Steam is not the software maker, Valve is. So you don't even know the context.
Why would one use an untraceable pseudonym if there was a chance they'd want to come back and claim it was them all along?
There's also a chance that you're not even engaging with a person at all, but with a bot, so even less reason.
