The subtle but consistent downvoting to a score of 0 to -1 feels very botted. No matter how I write the comments, anything counter the "AI" propaganda nets me a 0 or -1 total score. I don't care about the points whatsoever, but I find it interesting how there's never a massive downvote, just enough to keep such comments at 0 to -1.

Morals are relative. I happen to align with Japan's morals, and wish Norway would take inspiration from it. We're on the far opposite end of the spectrum.

The punishment should be harsher than the crime. Stealing an apple might not be a "big problem", but it sets a precedent that taking someone else's property is acceptable under some circumstances -- say, the relative value of said object.

China would be a good guess.

It's increased in lockstep here on HN as well. It used to be that I came here for the comments, but more and more the comments are going the way of everywhere else: Inflammatory, polarising, and more and more botted (both automated and human bots) -- no proof, but I've been around the internet since the early 90's, I see the patterns.

I even get sucked into contributing at times, which is why that descent into trash _works_ so well. I hate it, and I visit HN less and less as a result.

Poe's law gets me again. It's getting really rough these days on HN, I have to admit... My bad. Seems the AI-Protectorate Flagging Brigade managed to parse the sarcasm though.

We're struggling with the pollution levels from road dust now though. It's worse in most cities than it ever was with combustion engines. Yes there's lower Co2, but the dust and tire particles are actually more dangerous.

What about the increased pollution from road dust? In Norway this has led to higher pollution levels that are directly dangerous to people and animals than back when we were all combustion vehicles.

The heavier EV's are causing genuinely harmful particles simply by driving on the roads themselves.

We do and many of us prefer it that way. I’m not on any major social media because I personally consider it asocial — you can’t have that many actual friends or acquaintances. My «social media» is a handful of smaller discord servers and an irc channel, and an extensive webring of personal websites.

Maybe it's ok to create something that isn't for most people. That's how the internet started out. It's only gotten worse the more accessible it became to most people. Maybe it's a good thing to create a split based on capabilities and technical know-how.

This and a lot of similar HN comments, often by fresh accounts, just read like viral marketing. Not least because of the capitalisation.
