Just link the rooms to one or more relevant locations so people can find them initially, then let people favourite them or whatever so they can rejoin later without having to be in that location.

Seconded. I've never gone to conferences though, but I've always felt I learn more via online sources and/or experience. I've been trying more Twitter recently, but honestly I think I'm giving more than I'm getting from it..

This is probably abundantly clear, but someone has to say it. You need to refactor that beast and split it out into separate files for development. Add a build process to smash it all together for you. End of story.

It seems like something that would be valuable to businesses working with big data, so what's the hold up? Has nobody reached this scale yet? Is it still too expensive? I don't get it.. What are blu-rays like for the rising 4K/UHD resolution? If that takes off, could we be looking at new format requirements? Higher bandwidth? Higher capacity? What about 3D? What about beyond that, holographic?

I don't know. This is all speculation, but I would grant Gabe the benefit of the doubt here. Over the next.. 5+ years, who knows what the entertainment world might be like?

I used to have the same gripe with Firefox for a good couple years. Turned out my profile had.. something.. in it that was slowing down nearly every activity. I'd strongly suggest nuking your Chrome profile and any other lurking config or cache if you can. In my experience, old browser profiles seem to sometimes hide slow juice as it were, haha.

For now perhaps.. I think the point he was trying to make is that even those areas are changing over time. Who is to say eventually that hardware or a language won't make them redundant? Just look at the leaps and bounds Go is making for example.

Hmm, I didn't think it took any of them years to rearchitect per se? Regardless, somebody has to do it =) I for one am grateful for these giants pushing our current platforms and languages to their limits. On top of that, they've gone and found solutions, all in their own ways to solve the problem of scaleability. No?

Not bad, I would of followed php-fig standards for the file layout though. This would also help with camus's point about making it easily pluggable.

The more of these posts I read, the more I believe most PHP programmers (as a majority) really aren't "clean coders" or have any intention of writing organised, maintainable. More likely they are just coders who write what they have to, whatever works and takes the least amount of time to get the job done.

What happens when we don't need to exchange BTC for another currency anymore? Or will BTC be forever inherently dependant on the existence of a government controlled currency? How would we price things in BTC like groceries or salaries? Would that be always changing because the value of BTC would be forever going up? I'm probably talking beyond our lifetime here..
