If you're asking for video games/creative studios, unfortunately my best advice is have good connections and a strong public portfolio. Both of these are solvable problems.

Your skills aren't immediately applicable to a tech artist role. You need to learn about the graphics pipeline (high-level) and how 3D models and particle effects are rendered behind the scenes, plus knowing specific tricks for rendering different common visual effects. You can learn all of this from free online resources.

There’s a separate role that is more along the lines of what you’re saying, called a Technical Artist (that’s what I do)

I think graphics programmers benefit from having an artistic mindset, but they usually work so low level that it isn’t necessary to be successful.

I did not know they made an anime of The Summer Hikaru Died. The manga was amazing, I need to check out how they adapted it.

The same ratio of garbage to quality was available back then, there just wasn’t the same level of exposure to the range of output so the worst ones faded into history.

To me there’s usually an undercurrent of manic zeal that makes them feel that way.

I agree with your sentiment but this is not the place to complain about a movie you dislike. OP is showing off a project they made, trying to make them feel bad about liking a movie is tactless and reflects poorly on you.

Virtue signaling is the worst interpretation you can have of someone attempting to do better. If someone’s trying to make a small impact on the world, shouldn’t you encourage them instead of making fun and claiming they’re just doing it for looks?

Your comment really resonates with me, I’m in a similar position though much more junior. My colleagues in tech can’t fathom that I actively choose to stay where I am and make 50% of their salary.

I’ve found talking about ethics and moral responsibility with people working in big tech is futile and frustrating. Almost everyone takes it as a personal attack though I never hold anyone else to my moral standards.

I doubt it's ethics, but could payment processors be feeling pressure from political entities who are threatening policy action under the guise of ethics and morality? With the current administration, groups like this would have no trouble finding political backing.

It really wasn't, it just had a lesbian protagonist. There are still many prominent sympathetic male characters with agency. Plenty of women enjoy action movies targeted towards men, I always find it confusing when men feel they can't enjoy media with a woman in it.

The Last of Us Part II is an incredible experience, I'm happy there's still a thriving fan community doing stuff like this. I appreciate how detailed this guide is, when I visit Seattle I'll definitely try it out.

The entire relationship between an advisor and the the candidate is paternalistic, the advisor holds so much control over the student’s future. I’m glad I quit in hindsight.
