I am growing a batch of Dunstan chestnuts from seeds that I overwintered from https://chestnutridgeofpikecounty.com/. It's fun to see how much interest the American Chestnut has garnered in the last 20 years. I may have 20-30 seedlings this year and plan to plant them around Evanston, IL. Rogue forestry in the dark of night.
Here is what I do. Head to your local university bookstore, and buy the course-pack for a music theory course. Read the syllabus, borrow the books from the library and use the materials. You get a structured way to approach the subject and you do the legwork to learn it. It usually costs ~< $100 to get knowledge worth much more.
Given that HN has had articles on the decline of the insect population (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decline_in_insect_populations) and the decline in bird populations (https://www.nytimes.com/2019/09/19/science/bird-populations-...), I am surprised that food supply is not listed as one of the causes of body changed.
When the news broke that bugs were disappearing, this was the expected followup. Right?
