You're thinking of the same app i used to use! I think it was a Japanese app called Papakura? It's what helped me learn 3d modeling back in the day

love the microsoft ergonomic kb, I have the surface grey one as my main kb (I need the full layout for various 3d program shortcuts annoyingly) but it really does feel great to type on despite not being "mechanical"
I found out about that one through mortismal games and loved it, i actually played through that campaign almost entirely on a stream deck!
I don't know though if it would be as good to someone who's played it first before the main game(s)
honestly humans are nowhere near as lossless as you think, look up any study on eye-witness acounts of crimes and you will see how fallible to hallucination the human mind is as well .... at least when it comes to one-shot learning.
I feel from my own experience teaching, that it's repetition and pruning of information that really makes human memory and learning much more effective and not the act of storing the information the first time.
I still have mine, unfortunately basically nothing supports it at this point
I'm an artist who works on pre-production fast turnaround animations for films, and yeah that hits the nail on the head, knowing what NOT to do which elements not to focus on is a majority of the power that comes with experience. I'm fast because I know which corners can be cut best and how to illustrate what I need to
Milkshape was such crap, i loved it haha. I learned modeling using it too, i think it had two tools extrude and merge vertices, so i had to learn some dumb topological tricks to do anything. Still by the time i moved to 3ds Max i did pretty well.
My favorite early learning app was wings 3d, really fantastic modeling flow and creates clean messages by default
I imagine something like a weaponized version of this, loitering semi autonomous drone swarms fully charged / ready to deploy hanging off wires... a bit like the US spider munition or just smart landmines.

although honmestly most of their mathematicians are lovely people!
it's funny, the thing that got me to understand calculus initially in class was seeing the graphs, somehow my brain immediatly "got" the difference between acceleration and movement and the shapes of those formulas... these days I think it might be a type of kinesthetic synesthesia! helps immensely since I work in animation and always had an easy time figuring out just the right math for procedural animation :)
nebula really is the best of youtube! I've subscribed for a while but recently went for their lifetime subscription (I know it's not a "deal" I just want to support those creators')
a friend is actually a creator there! speaks very well about them
I'm very surprised to see this so late in the thread
same here and there's a few non "shipping time" bonuses I remember hearing about and noting that I wanted to try... but then never did, I wonder if I should cut them off because I really dont mind just "acquiring" those shows otherwise if I want to watch them
reminds me of this - https://www.taron.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4
it's a painting program where the paint can be moved around with a similar fluid simulation
This strikes me as a moment where you should watch the video there's a moment specifically at 41:40 where he basically says what you're saying and it's an integral part of his point
I find that a lot of people myself included like to argue against an imagined version of something they hear second hand often not going to the source material to realize they're standing on the same side
hah it's possibly a bit of a cheat but immortality (cheat because as a game it's largely a movie)
but yeah as far as compelling characters through games alone, Pentiment was incredible around the same time
I use his other software magicaCSG, I'm a 3d artist and it's probably the simplest 3D program I've ever used but it's super fun to play around in.
So fun in fact that I joined his patreon to get access to earlier releases!
I actually just watch this talk last night She is an absolutely fantastic explainer for these complex concepts, her video about splines was also hugely illuminating
could even include something like a single page self editing wiki as your home page (like tiddlywiki)
ze frank has been one of my favorite things on the internet since before youtube :)
what's your power move?
this is along the lines of mistaking climate for weather. yes there are areas in israel where you do not necessarily want to be a tourist or visit, but the vast majority of the country is perfectly safe and I'd argue (being from there, and going back nearly every year) it's far safer on average than anywhere I've lived in LA / the US
and this is all WITH the place being currently in a state of chaos and PRO democracy protests.
it's an offline fluid simulation, it's a pretty identifiable look once you've seen a few
the key wasnt the pornography, but the kinds of people who post what tubmlr CATGORIZED as pornography. everything from queer communities, sex education, and people who post a variety of things only SOME of which was nsfw. by alienating those people who were the core of the community that existed there, they drove out the community forming elements that existed on the site in the first place.
it's exactly the camera work, this is a camera on a spline that has been heavily smoothed, a trick used in a lot of vfx work is recording ACTUAL camera movement (put a brick on an iphone to simulate the camera weight and 3d track the motion) and using that in a separate project to create a feeling of believable "there-ness"
the interesting part is I've interacted with some people going through manic phases and it's REALLY similar to chatgpt, the ability to string words and thoughts together without any large scale plans.
I love the sculpt keyboard, however the function keys are tiny and frustrating (I use them quite a bit for maya) when some of the keys stopped working on it, I upgraded to the surface ergonomic keyboard which has a similar shape and built in numpad and took the riser that goes under the initial ergonimic keyboard and with the help of some velcro tape...
it's bigger on my desk which I dont love but I DO use the numpad and the F keys are much more usable, (I did create a cover for the FN key and the power off button to avoid hitting them by accident though)
I agree with this sentiment, The ipad Pro is an infuriating device. the OS is incredibly limiting, arbitrarily crippled and has UI decisions that seem to defy any kind of internal consistency.
The fact that the "thunderbolt" port seems to arbitrarily reject usb drives that work on my phone (s23 ultra) and steam deck, that I am treated like a child in a safety helmet when using my own device, that browsers are all just shitty reskins of safari, that windowing system which seems like the fisher price toy version of a real computer...
all of this is even more infurating because some of my most productive artistic work has been done on an ipad pro, as a 3d artist I have enormous chunks of my workflow that I accomplish on Nomad Sculpt, and Cozy Blanket (modelling and retopology) I take notes on Concepts, and I really enjoy the fantastic screen and pen responsiveness... I just wish this device wouldnt occupy such disparate corners of the quality histogram. as it is, I upgraded from a 2018 pro to a 2021 1TB / 16GB of ram because I regularly sculpt models in the tens of millions of polygons on this device. I just wish I wasnt treated like some interloper when I was ready to actually do work on it.
I think duke 3d maps arent strictly laid out on a 2d plane though are they? I know they use some above/below sectors but I"m not sure if those are just portals to other parts of the map (havnt planed as much duke as I have doom)
