what are your skills? working for high profile startups and fortune 500s means nothing. you could have been a janitor. i mean, google, ibm do have janitors right?

if you go into a bank without a gun, imply you have a gun, it's bank robbery. you don't need a gun, the gun can be a toy gun, so long as the victim feels you have a real gun, you get charged as if you actually have a real loaded gun.

learn some self control. i have a smartphone, i don't want it to break. i run it, it doesn't run my life, i'm more efficient and better for it. my last smart phone, i bought used for $90 and i used it for a year and the only reason i'm not using it now is because i got the nexus 4. no one has to spend $1000 on a smart phone.

Dear brilliant students, if you are truly brilliant, do what you wish to do with your life. If you wish to study, by all means do so. Just don't equate PhD with income earning ability.

Stay with your job, work harder. Forget the "lifestyle" Save a lot and really live below your means, keep building on your skills and looking for better opportunity. Start investing your savings, some of them in your skills and businesses. If you really play the hand you have now right, you can retire in 15yrs WORKING without ever doing a START UP and getting acquired or going public.

in the computer field, as of today, a CS degree is not important. the only reason for someone to regret a CS degree is if they had an opportunity to do a startup and they refused, and someone else did that startup and made some serious money.
