I'm happy to read this. No. We "moved to the cloud", everything became a "microservice", put together using existing libs, and I now spend my time trying to figure out why things running in obscure black boxes stop working in the middle of the night. I hate it. I wish I was coding instead of pushing buttons.

GTK literally means the Gimp ToolKit. It's not based on, it's the toolkit that started it all.

A lot of people I work with in Montréal only speak English. It's not a big deal because everyone else is bilingual so the communication isn't broken. The main problem is when it comes to finding a job - speaking French and English is usually a core requirement. If you don't, you'll have to compensate.
