when I see Amazon on a resume, I actually discount the candidate

You're fighting ignorance with more ignorance.

Hey so I have to ask, do you actually like what you do? I don't mean that in a rude way or anything. I just honestly don't know what people do at FB anymore. Do you work on the core platform or are you working on Mark's new idea?

Yet they spend time speeding up colorization of bracket pairs, which worked just fine for the last 10 releases or so.

You must have missed the part where it is now 10,000x faster. Given your complaint about performance this should excite you!

That seems like it should be at least a customizable setting and IMO on by default. Let’s hope the HN thread full of people pointing it out helps.

This is straight up condescending to the Gimp devs.

No, it isn't. There is literally years worth of user feedback and it still hasn't been addressed. It's a common complaint and to say they haven't "engineered" their UX is putting it lightly.

Please be kind when you get something for free.

Something being free doesn't mean it can't be criticized. Nothing said was unkind.

Wtf happened to HN?

This is a fucking wrapper around an open source text editor

People like you are no longer receive attention for shouting and throwing a tantrum. You and your negative comments are drowned out.

So, what happened to HN? It has improved. Hop aboard and take a swig of positivity buddy.

It is one of my all-time favorite shows. I am so glad I found someone recommending it about a year ago. If you are on the fence give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

You are boycotting people playing a 20 year old game that was made by Blizzard North, who closed their doors in 2005, over someone being banned in 2019? Why don't we just cancel every business who has ever done something we disagree with?

You must understand the point I am missing. Why learn a language in the LISP family as a young developer? Does it somehow improve you overall?

What is your reasoning behind the recommendation to learn Clojure? I am generally unfamiliar with it but saw it was a general purpose language. What makes it so valuable to be included in your list?
