Removing 'slave' from the vocabulary makes more sense than removing 'master', master is a term that predates its usage in slavery contexts.
Asking (and explaining the logic of main vs master) would be better UX than forcing a new paradigm into contexts where it's not welcome - all of my corpo repos use master; sneaking main into new repos is not helpful.

At some point, you are going to have to use some sort of force to confine or constrain to prevent the child from engaging in unwanted behavior.
No matter what flowery language or loopy logic you use to avoid the subject, you are applying force.
Is it better to have well-thought out uses of force instead of just hitting the kid when they make you angry? Of course. But don't pretend that living in the world requires no discipline at all.

This one's obvious. I've gotten ads ON OTHER PEOPLE'S DEVICES targeting me (a habitual blocker of ads). They were very industry specific and I was hanging out with people that would have nothing to do with that industry.
Don't forget psych evaluations - with the implication that they should be found unfit for release. This one is a favorite of "cops" that don't actually have authority to arrest people or no probable cause for it.
In some places though (see: algorithmic views of the primary content e.e. facebook or twitter, youtube recs), the recommendations can't be disabled.
You cannot avoid the machine entirely, and all it might take is showing a thumbnail or a preview of something to you.
This sort of thing has led me to getting off those services.
This is an amazing DFW essay and probably one of the only places that notes American Black English as an actual entity and a tricky issue to deal with, especially as an educator.

The cynical advice here is: automate your own tasks and keep the extra slack you gain from it - unless there's a compelling reason to do otherwise.
I've been told more than once that your average Midwestern software engineer blows your average west coast engineer out of the water, but never seen it elaborated on like this. Tooling does make a great difference - I was shocked when I had a coworker actually speak out against automating mundane git commands.
You might find the extreme gun fanatics this way, but for every one of those there are dozens that just have a regular weapon in the closet for emergencies and don't advertise it whatsoever. (At least in some jurisdictions, may vary based on your location)

It's a cone of probability, which is about as reliable as you think it is. There are gridded wind speed forecasts (still probability) and NWS watches and warnings if you want something more specific.
It helps with general preparedness at best. If you're in hurricane alley it serves as a good reminder to be prepared, but not as a notice to pack your car.
Remember that in the end they will send you a bill for this entire circus, so unless it's an acute emergency you do not actually want any of this.
I initially got a macbook seven years ago to work at a mobile shop and dabble in iOS. I liked the form factor and the *nix basis, so I've stayed with them a bit.
Between the touch bar (which bothered me enough to downgrade my work laptop to not have it), keyboard problems, and migrating away from their BSD roots, I'm completely done. I don't care if Linux desktop is clunky or bad, at least I can use it on a laptop that doesn't suck.
But at the end of the day, I'm just taking someone's word for it that this is all they send, and assumes that it won't change over time in a browser that regularly updates itself.
It'd be a lot more acceptable if there was an option to show me "This is the exact telemetry payload we want to send to Mozilla." And even then you are taking someone's word for it that there isn't some other piece of data hidden in a hash or something, or that the browser isn't secretly sending data.
I'm not quite paranoid enough to do the full monitoring of all network traffic, but how do I reasonably know what is going on without listening to traffic/watching memory at all times? In the end, I'm trusting a faceless corporation that is attempting to put on a facade of trustworthiness.

No. In so many ways, no. If the trade off is to save a few dollars by running around for multiple hours per week to go to multiple stores (uses gas! or takes a long time!), or just going to the nearest cheap store to get everything they need, they're going to Walmart.
It has nothing to do with brand and identity and everything to do with not wasting precious time and money.
Why can't they just be a standup guy that has issues dealing with women in specific circumstances? Why are they defined by that specific case and not their holistic behavior?

This is a little myopic, GP is clearly trying to posit that "there are less unhappy people above 40 because they are more death-prone than their happy peers".
I've seen some science headlines that sound like that's the case, but I haven't read the papers so take it with a dumptruck full of salt.
