This is a great idea but I don't think it's unique. I remember a similar app that was on the iPhone when those apps first came out. I remember looking at it but it had a cost to download it so I never did use it. I just can't remember what it was called.

Quebec? I don't see it happening. It has been like that for as long as I can remember. They can't even enter McDonald's contests like Monopoly. They have their own separate contests.

I hurt my back rowing in 2009 in the L5-S1 area. Many physios diagnosed it as different things and many of them tried different treatments. None of them worked and it hurt for three years. I tried lots of different core exercises, some physios tried manual and manipulative therapy (which helped for a bit) but after a few months of sessions of dry needling my back hasn't bothered me with that injury in over a year.

I would much recommend dry needling, it's not the same thing as acupuncture.

I have a BSc and an MSc in CS - focusing on NLP and Machine Learning, so I have an idea how to program, just not how to program games like the Minecraft clone or my own Settlers game. I've tried looking for tutorials and resources online and I've followed the InventWithPython which showed me how to make a simple game similar to how I started making my own. Clearly it was inefficient for a larger game.

What are some good resources out there that can help me learn how to make games such as the Minecraft clone or even how to make my own settlers game actually be a useable game?

I saw this link and I immediately thought of ShareLatex. I love that site and I use it for all my graduate work. So much easier than working with LaTeX on my own machine. You guys rock and it is by far the best LaTeX editor I've see online.

Didn't an author from Penny Arcade successfully get a visa or something like that to enter the US because of an online petition. IIRC he was trying to enter for business purposes but the US Gov't doesn't consider an online comic to be a viable business.

I wanted to get one for April when my current Bell contract runs out and then use it with Wind Mobile but it doesn't seem like I will be able to get one in time.

I thought the newest bill (related to technology, pirating, etc) here in Canada made it legal for Canadians to be allowed to unlock their phones and made it illegal for companies to tie one device to one company.

Yeah it was in the late 90s I believe that they were almost going bankrupt. Part of it too was the number of special pieces they would use for only one set. I have the Lego Book and it's a great read, goes into a lot more detail than that Wikipedia page.

There is reason for their seemingly high prices it is because of how accurately the bricks are built. They are meant to be a precise size to something like 0.002 mm and you can see it is a quality product compared to Mega Blocks which just feels cheap.

I'd say a normal set goes for about $0.10 a piece, prices will go up if they require a license (Star Wars) or have lots of special abnormal pieces.

Minifigs cost a lot more to make, they are also collectable themselves. I have collected sets since I was three years old and I have only recently discovered how valuable and collectable just the minifigs are to some people.

My goal is to travel around the world one day but for now I have a goal of competing in the 2016 Olympics so that kind of takes up full time.

With my job I also can't just quit it... but when I am done I will do a trip like this, go for a year and see where I go. Start up here in Canada, work my way down through the US, through Mexico, down through South America (quick trip to Antartica) - hope over to Africa travel up the eastern side, through the middle east, India, Asia, down through New Zealand and Australia before going home.

When airlines don't allow you to use a kindle during take-off, but you can use a read an actual book... it doesn't give much in terms of encouragement that they are going to start offering free wifi.

I am almost done my three year contract with Bell. I don't mind them so I don't mind staying with them. I want the N4 and I talked to retentions about what I could get post-plan if I brought in my own phone. They seemed quite confused and couldn't give me any better deals than a new customer. If I had gotten one of their subsidized phoned on a new 3-year deal they would have been able to give me a better deal. I would even be willing to go on a 1-2 year deal with an N4 but alas they seem like they don't know how to deal with this situation.

I could just go with the Samsung Galaxy SIII which wouldn't be a bad phone but it wouldn't be carrying the vanilla Android but rather Bell's variant (which I am not sure how bad it is).

I've looked at other carriers, Koodo, Fido, Wind and Moblicity. Either their deals aren't any better than I have now or they have little coverage. Wind is much better than Moblicity in coverage so I am not sure how much roaming with them would cost me on average a month.

So I am not sure which way I should go with my new phone.

I can't speak about all police but I've asked this question to my father who works with the RCMP. He has been in charge of traffic sections for years. They don't have a quota, not in the usual sense but they do keep track of data on tickets, this includes how many tickets each member is giving out. They don't require them to give out X tickets per month but what they do look for is members who are not giving out around the same amount of tickets as their peers. This usually indicates they are not patroling and doing their job.

Another thing they can look at with this data is where they are giving out tickets. If they notice one officer has all his tickets in one location which is known for high accident rates then they know that person is "fishing" rather than actually doing active patroling.

You mean like walking by and making sure everyone has their kindles off?

Yet you're still allowed to read a big old heavy book (which can easily become FOD itself), or sleep through take off and landing. People aren't alert during those activities.
