This is entirely anecdotal.

I have two chromium profiles, one for work using a G Suite account and one using my personal gmail account. I've noticed the browsing history and search from my work profile impacting my personal search results.

I don't believe they use G Suite email/docs to mine data, but the rest is likely fair game.

I saw the same. My best initial guess is that this is somehow caused by cloudflare either setting the content-type header to text/plain or not setting the accept-ranges header. Or maybe both?

I've been working from home for a couple years, and I had this same issue at first. For me, it helped to make a sort-of ritual of ending the work day.

I run a 'timer' script when I start working and run again after 8-9 hours (a simple bash script: `timer start|stop work`). Then I disconnect the VPN, close all open apps, turn off the display, and go do a chore (dishes, laundry, go for a walk). I also use a separate browser profile for work.

It was still difficult at first, but with the routine it got easier. Looking at the history of running the timer script, I saw my working hours gradually get to normal over about 8-10 weeks.

I have two laptops with SSDs running only Linux, and they both have mostly been powered on for two years or more (XFS and BTRFS). Both are still operating normally and smartctl shows minimal wear.

I would focus on mount options that limit writing (e.g., relatime/noatime) or putting ~/.cache on tmpfs.

In my experience ~/.cache gets the most frequent writing during normal desktop usage. A lot of applications ignore XDG standards and create their own snowflake folder directly in $HOME. You might want to watch for and replace those making a lot of writes with a symlink to where they belong. (This quickly became a frustrating battle that I lost).

Yes. I've seen billboards as a hazard for years. And now we have digital billboards. Brightly lit, designed to catch the eye, rotating through an array of ads, right in the face of dozens of drivers travelling at 70+ mph.

I have an Oryx Pro and the keypad is good as far as your two requirements.

The one thing I had to get used to is that the keys have no curvature (no gradient or tapering around the edges and the tops have zero convexity). My fingertips are either a bit more calloused now from moving between keys or my fingers have worn away the keys' sharp edges. Or a little of both.

Oh and if you do get one, and if you think it would be fun to have your keyboard light up certain sections with certain colors for certain alert conditions... it gets old real quick.

It took me a bit to realize this isn't just a place to find a remote job.

After working remotely for a year I have become very aware of how isolating it is to not have the usual social interaction provided by an office environment. This is a good idea.

The telcos are part of the problem. I work for a company that deals with incoming robocalls -- thousands a day. I have a very long email conversation in my inbox between us (company) and Verizon. The general theme in this conversation thread is

COMPANY: we're getting thousands of these robocalls into our various numbers, will you please help to stop it?

VERIZON: We don't see a problem, everything is fine. Your bill will be there soon.

COMPANY: attached is a log showing 4,000 calls in the last two hours sent through your network and terminating at our location. Will you please help to stop it?

VERIZON: we have investigated the provided calls and we see nothing showing these calls originated from us. Please contact the upstream telco and ask them. Your bill should have arrived by now, pay it.

COMPANY: but Verizon does not provide us with information on the upstream telcos, we need your assistance in stopping the robocallers. This bill is considerably larger than usual because of all these robocalls. Will you please help up stop them?

VERIZON: we recommend your legal team contact our legal team if you feel we are actually allowing robocalls to pass through our network to yours. Pay your bill immediately.
