I was thinking that it's so weird to talk about using standard HTML validation and then everything is shown with React? If we want to teach people how standard works, we can't assume React as the default.

While that link is great advice it's not 100% true that you need to have JS enabled to render anything in a web component - there's declarative shadow dom. Also while it's also true to depend on as little as possible JavaScript it's also required for some accessibility aspects. You can get far with only HTML and CSS but not always all the way.

"very very" was a bit exaggerated but it's far from perfect. There's always something. I'm using KDE neon which should be as new as it gets. For multi monitor: it forgets that I had a second desktop, renders it black, switching between two monitors and none is also error prone.. it's not "bad" I'm used to it but as I said, some bug been here for a while now.

KDE is great but also very, very buggy. I'm using it since 2016 and some bugs just won't go away and good luck with openeing a bug report - nobody will care. Especially multi monitor support just isn't good. Multi window support is also, by default, not as good as Windows does it. Sicne a few updates I'm getting some polciykit errors everytime I'm doing anything session related just because - I have not found a solution since then.

That lists just about everything even if an app just got merged 1:1 into another app. It's so dumb and doesn't even add context, may be valid to add in this case but often it's just dumb

Sure I agree that this is far more accurate of what one can do but you can't expect that from people working, managing their day to day life, family and so on. It's one thing we don't expect in other industries in that way

I have not found any "good reasons" in the usual issues you'd find to be honest. Many of those harmful reasons are dealt with and tbh where does it differ that much from normal apps? NFC especially. Also: if there would be any issues then try find solutions for that?

I never understood why that's the case; on Android you can submit your PWA to the Playstore easily via Trusted Web Activities - Apple could just do the same thing to monetize Webapps.. don't quite understand what's hindering them here

And from what we've seen in Monterey they are continuing to invest heavily in improving it.

lol, no. they're not. Safari specially on mobile is a joke and a bad one at it. Their whole strategy is to pull you into there Appstore and monetize every part of it and keep Webapps at a disadvantage

There's a clear decline in understanding what's being said with Google assistant and it's like this for a while now. I'm using this stuff since 2010ish when it was still called Google Now and it could do more for you back then.

Nowadays it doesn't know what I mean when I ask "what bus do I have to take to get to Dave". First of all, it doesn't know what to do with contacts anymore. Second: you have to say "what public transportation do I have to take to get to [Dave's location]". It just doesn't know that a bus or tram is interchangeable with public transport. Another example is asking for the last train home. Nowadays it will list you like 3 trains trains from now on but not the last one which would be hours away. Asking for when the next train comes is the same, it knows the answer but shows a list instead without saying anything.

It just gets worse and worse so that the only thing which works reliable is asking for the weather and setting alarms - which works like this for over 10 years.

I have a very hard time believing that this will result in a product we can use and if so: it will be in English only forever. Speaking of english only: their live translation overlay and their recorder app were some selling points for the Pixel at this time and to this day it's only available in English and that's it. Same for their "better artificially generated voices"

It's only marketing and I don't believe we will get anything out of this ever and if we do it's nothing like this at all.

Is there any kind of road for when to expect installable Web Apps the way it's possible in Chrome and Edge?

But the majority of people won't change if it's not clearly better, why would they? Also most of this doesn't matter if you are using AdBlock (or whatever) anyway. Of course this isn't ideal. Sure it might work for some using DDG, but it does not for the majority.

No. It should be done the way like Slack does it: - You want to get Notifications for Messages? Click here

So that you actually know what it's used for
