I think the truth is that Microsoft is not dead but simply no longer relevant. Eight years ago you would expect a VC to ask you why Microsoft would not choose to compete against you. Or alternately you would make the case that Microsoft might buy you out as an exit strategy. Today you would substitute Google or Yahoo for Microsoft. So in effect to startups Microsoft has truly become irrelevant.
I may be older than your target audience but I think except for the police raid it was rather lame. But then I don't understand the appeal of American Idol or Survivor either
Perhaps it is overused but I like passionate. I decided a long time ago that I only wanted to associate with people who were passionate about things..
What I am tiring of is "social community", how much room is left for more of them?
Because I want to get it right this time. In my previous startup I never felt more alive, creatively engaged and felt like I was doing the best work of my career. Life is short and no job holds the attraction to me that a startup does.
