It’s true that fraud and corruption will always exist but it’s also true that it’s less prevalent in a capitalist system because it’s more (not completely) transparent than any other system that has been tried by humans so far.

Maybe those who prefer a system like this should move to China instead of trying to bring the system to a country where most people are not in favor of such system.

Looking at per capita is useless when those countries have a combined population of over 2 billion (~6x US population). Climate change and the Earth doesn’t care about per capita, it only cares about the total output of carbon. The reality is that American output has most likely peaked, while China and India will keep growing for decades to come.

I wasn’t blaming anyone. I was just stating a fact. Americans consuming less energy is not going to prevent countries like China and India from consuming more energy coming from dirty sources such as coal. Americans consuming less material on the other hand can decrease carbon output in China but that will mostly like just be replaced by material consumption from the fast-developing nations.

The body doesn’t keep antibodies around months after an infection but it knows how to create the antibodies if reinfection does happen. So of course a freshly vaccinated person will have more antibodies than a person who was infected months ago but that doesn’t mean the vaccine is more effective.

What about the over hundred million people who have already acquired natural immunity? Do you think they should also take the risk of vaccine side effects even though they already have immunity that is more robust than the vaccine can provide by itself?

Because HN wants to treat its users as adults who can judge for themselves whether they should or shouldn’t believe something they are reading?

Why do you want to censor and stifle discussions that could possibly convert the person telling the lie because of some misunderstanding to change their views and accept a different perspective?

The calculus is different for tens of millions people who acquired natural immunity from previous infections before the vaccines even existed. I am one of them. There is no good reason for me to take the risk with the vaccines because it will only increase my immunity marginally.

Glad at least someone is standing up to Twitter mobs. The special is a statement against Twitter mobs, and how dangerous they can be for innocent individuals just expressing their opinions. Chappele’s trans friend most likely committed suicide because of intense Twitter bullying for defending Chappelle. We can’t keep letting Twitter mobs destroy people’s lives.

The more comments like these I see around reasonable and fact-based discussions on covid and the covid vaccines, the more I am sure that my decision to hold off on getting the vaccine is the right decision. The pro-covid-vaccine movement is a cult just like the anti-all-vaccine movement.
