I think it also depends on the app.
For example Youtube and Twitch where the main content is in video format, dark mode is excellent - just like how the lights turn off in theatres.
Now when it comes to typing, in a Markdown app for example, a white background and black font feels more natural - just like a good old piece of paper.
I currently try to convey my (code) interests by pinning my favorite repositories on my profile, but this personal README is a ton more expressive. Looking forward to this!
It's creepy indeed. Not only do they collect all your actions (key presses included) but I believe they also send the activity to their servers via HTTP, rendering the SSL on the page that includes their script, useless.
One vote for #5. Also a general suggestion: these sessions could be livestreamed on twitch.tv for live interaction with viewers. Of course the VOD can still be uploaded to youtube later.
