The option these days for Vets is sell to PE, shut down, or try to find a younger DVM who wants to take over the practice and work in for a couple of years. Lots of mine & industrial vehicles are electrified. In underground mining it's attractive because the vehicle is in a very confined space (easy to run cables to) and it's doubly attractive because of the emissions issue (venting underground). It can make sense for above ground too. But for aircraft and ships you're likely correct.

Military aircraft frequently operate with ADS-B off even here in the US. The whole premise is nonsense. If a military aircraft is being seen on ADS-B it's because they want to be seen. I think the author is trying to make a point about tracking movements to and from foreign nations, overseas bases, etc. but sometimes the point is to let them know you're coming.

The more correct term would probably be a figure 8 on a bight. But since climbing harnesses have permanently sewn loops to tie into you can't actually tie it on a bight. You retrace the knot. Otherwise it's a standard figure 8 knot with a loop coming out one end.

I like Mountain Project sitting at my desk but physical guidebooks lend themselves well to the half hiking involved in most climbing expeditions (despite the weight of a physical book). There's just something about being able to tick off routes and hold the book upside down to orient yourself that I don't think translates well to an app still. The book writers seem to put more effort into good maps and diagrams too.

There is a hack to this whole affair... Know how big your tank is, do the math (overestimate a bit) and ask for a prepaid fill up. If you don't manage to use the whole prepay the remainder will be credited back to your card. You'll also not hit random limits and card holds when filling big tanks.
