I love that comments like these incept million tech bro look-at-my-clout responses for having learned some subset of the magic incantations to make git barely usable... As if you get an award for mental heuristics to put up with a poorly architected product with leaky abstraction all over.

If you mentions reflogs, i'm yelling bingo.

Bonus points: You have 3 new commits and in one there is a change in file.stupid, how many git bs things does it take to revert file.stupid to previous version while keeping the rest of the change set.

Yupp, even before the ram shortage we were paying $60-$80k for 1u racks with 768 to 1.5tb ram and 48-128cores

Unclear for a laptop, but for a workstation 1tb+ is what you want for any sort data science stuff.

suggest high-level collaborators in the local military

This - almost guaranteed that this was a negotiated outcome/coup from the military.

Also it's telling i had to scroll halfway down the page to find the first non "trump therefore bad" comment. The cognitive dissonance of the posters vis a vis Machado is pretty astounding.

Feigning victimhood and zero agency is very trendy in certain circles, and you evidently get bonus points for these sorts of performantive theatrics, versus actually adressing the core of the issue.

It's not the phone, it's you...

You know that is you, not the phone, that is desperately looking for a distraction and a different reality.

I don't understand why it's ever so trendy to do this performative i-have-minimal-agency-in-my-existence bit when it comes to smartphones; swap that last word with "TV" and the same people professing it would smirk - presumably because that's an old timey, rather than a très trendy, thing to be part of.

He's done the same asinine antics his entire career - friends at early-days at Tesla corroborate the identical on the spectrum nonsense that conveniently is now all over mass media. The only difference is back then he was saying batshit things that were on-canon for feel good progressives.

This is the same thing as twitter folding in like 3 days when he did those grand layoffs; arguments entirely grounded in feels of the aformentioned group.

I imagine this is just a symptom of infallible argument/humanities departments rewarding group think narratives (colonialism = definionally ultimate evil) with grant money. Doesn't take long for academics to understand the game.

Same thing with climate change, i've come across a pile of random definitely-not-climate-science papers (macre econ development divergence in hipanola, property rights in subsaharan africa, unrelated culutral anthropoly etc) that allude to climate change as the key driver for the phenomenon observed. Clearly NSF and NIH wanted a very certain set of content published.
