For frequency control, it seems like the Tesla batteries now have some competition in the form of synchronous condensers. For storage there seems to be several better alternatives than lithium.

But Nuclear could still an excellent option depending on various metrics. I rather see some 'risky' nuclear options being considered before any of the geo-engineering ideas take hold (as they will if we don't get a move on).

I can't see organisations motivated by profit making much difference here. Also existing organisations focused solely on the issue have not made much difference thus far.

I think a better model is where the EPA becomes a branch of the military. They all seem to have unlimited funds for their various projects. They could be operating the direct air capture machines being developed by Bill Gates and friends, or protect the existing natural machinery. Alternatively if this proves to be insufficient they have other means at their disposal.

It can come from defence and foreign aid budgets since these interests are directly aligned.

Isn't the problem that we're already scheduled to be killing a lot of people due to inaction? We need to find a path that maximises the chances for the remaining survivors.
