Create-react-app has a whole bunch of extra stuff, like a testing library, various styling engines, HMR and other build tools that aren't included in your deployed code anyway.
Production React, on the other hand, appears to only have 2 deps: js-tokens and loose-envify
Is there any evidence suggesting MS removed the gist? Last I checked the comments were being spammed after Musk posted about it, and the poster asked on HN how to disable comments on a gist. Seems like ample reason for the poster to remove it themself.

This is kind of dumbing down the issue, but: anyone not well-versed in implications of privacy violations would feel way stronger when claiming "Mark Zuckerburg is partly responsible for Donald Trump becaming president" versus "Google, Facebook, Amazon, Apple and Microsoft have data which will make you more susceptible to spending slightly more money [...on something you don't actually need]"
