Apps can read sim card info. Its country and whether the card is currently in roaming, you can't full them that way

You would need to get your sim card out of your phone and use wifi or buy one of them foreign esim

For vpns I actually found that websites that block vpns for some reasons are worse at detecting commercial vpns than when you deploy your own on vps

Also I forgot about other things. When my phone for some unknown reason had its region set as GB, I had British ads in YouTube music

Healthcare resources are very limited, you'd overwhelm it with lots of "yeah that's a defect, but 40% have it", things that would go away on its own, false positives, things that do not require urgent intervention, 10x increase of hypochondriacs and health deterioration caused by anxiety

You'd have a system where every resource is allocated for diagnostics, but no medical staff to treat it

Also a significant part of population avoids screening even if they are not required to paid anything from their pocket

That's kinda happen right now. Telegram's proxy produce huge amount of garbage data to hide and avoid blocking

What are you talking about, 92% of Russian population has access to internet via landlines, the government subsidised building all the infustructre. The internet access is one of the cheapest in the world($5-10 per month for 100-500mbit/s), starlink with its $50-120 price tag is not affordable at all, ignoring the fact it doesn't even work here

While I personally use Ubuntu on my laptop for several years now, when I helped my relative with a brand new laptop (huawei) with Windows 11 I was suprised how fast it was despite being very cheap, I don't remember any version of Windows that had such a performance, at least visually. Out of curiosity, what model does your father have?

My mom knitted a bag for my niece's iphone in 2024, so there already was a trend.

Is it? You can see the actual harm caused by web sites.

Doomscrolling in all age groups. Going to bed very late at night.

Girls having body dysmorphia cause of instagram.

Young men having porn addition and having no ambition to interact with real women

and the fact it's so tied to windows

Dotnet Core is not tied to windows except for certain frameworks like wpf (and there are alternatives for it that work everywhere), credential store.

And it's actually really good to use these days.

Love it! Wonder what is the logic behind having some lines ending with ";" in some cases and not having them in others. Is it just editor artefacts? i.e. the author had no intentions to put them, but the editor in some cases inserted them automatically.

Alaska was sold cause Russian Empire couldn't hold the land and eventually would've lost it.

The islands north to Japan are important cause the access from sea ports to the ocean in winter. Plus, if they were Japanese, they'd have American bases there and there wouldn't be a way for the submarines to leave ports without being tracked.

I closed my eyes on the ceo story and the politics and continued using it as "the only alternative" to Chrome until I got a pop up on my phone basically suggesting who I should vote for in some American election. I've never even been in that country.

California is supposed to be fifth economy in the world. You can use software produced in California under sanctions by ignoring intellectual rights. This wouldn't work with physical goods. You can't replace oil from one source with oil from another. Deficit of some resource chokes production of things that depend on this resource. And it's a chain reaction.

If the government is "bad" it doesn't make everyone who stands against it "good". It doesn't make everyone who is against the government unified body with one positive goal.

You don't need all the "protesters" to be thugs. 1% is enough to make cities dangerous place for everyone, including other protesters.

You know nothing about the country or the people who live there or what exactly going on right now, but automatically side with one of the part of the conflict based on your feelings.

They don't ask to bring troops to fight on the streets. The help could be in the form of putting security checkpoints and guarding critical infrastructure, constructions. Which would release military and police forces currently occupied by these tasks to fight the marauders and other criminals. There is no "protest" at this point.

Or because they don't want to live in a giant anthill?

They are not obliged give any piece of their land to the people who want to live there. It's in their interest to fight to preserve local communities and local businesses, putting obstacles to the "nomads" and corporations.

If it possibly might end badly, it must never happen out of lab. One can't even predict how it could end up. Low gains, gigantic risks for everyone and everything living nearby.

This is an act of eco-terrorism done by corporations. It shouldn't be treated better than oil spilling.
