I don't think of the style as dated. If you think of Portal 2 as a continuation of the style on a tangent, it's just heading in it's own unique direction. Portal 2 still feels far ahead of today's AAA games in various aspects.
Comparing the HH style directly to other FPS just doesn't seem right.
I have the MI A2 (~$230). It's spec'd very similarly to the Pixel 3a and has stock Android. It's been available for almost a year now.
Do you have a portfolio site? I had a 5 year hiatus from dev work and got a high paying software job within a year of trying.
1. Read numerous hacker news comments for advice.
2. Did freelance work for cheap but targeted jobs that I could learn highly desired skills (React, webpack, etc..)
3. Built a portfolio site with freelance work examples.
4. Applied to tons of jobs and got one.
I also had to try extremely hard and live in Seattle which helps too. To be honest by the sound of your post your mind set is in a not so great place which is understandable.
Perseverance
I don't have experience with Dragon or Siri, but Google Assistant has been improving at a noticable pace and for me seems seems to recognize at least 90% correct.
I'd assume (hope) they mean to infer data and not invent it.
Was on pololee's team as well. We were all crushed because the team was only a few months old and were we just all getting to know each other well.
Wouldn't the loss of close integration between Google's ads business and services decrease their respective values though?
This couldn't be farther from the truth. More speed means more page views means more ads seen means more revenue. Walmart Amazon plus others have done studies showing faster load times translates directly into increased revenue in there retail.
Ya this kinda sumarizes the Crux of the problem pretty well. I'm getting a bit worn with seeing anti JavaScript what nots on HN. It's here to stay guys for better or worse (and will proceed to consume UI development _everywhere_)
That last tip is so clever! I'll have to remember that if I ever want to undergo such a project.
XFCE is a true productivity DE. Gives you a few simple basic apps, and does a damn good job of managing windows. I so wish I could use it at work..
Huge amounts of fragmentation in the dev community for one.. there were several major forks.
I appreciated the novelty as well, fast forward many years later and I'm doing a bunch of Googling figuring out how to disable the fancy animations on the work issued osx laptop.
Don't companies like stripe aim to make packaged solutions to problems like these?
Perhaps not but that point of view is a dramatic over simplification of the situation. I used nicotine as a cruch while dealing with mental health issues. Part of the time I was smoking I really did _need_ it. Taking it away from me then would have been cruel.
The building I work in downtown always has half a dozen smokers on the sidewalk. Wish they would reserve a balcony or something for them because as an ex smoker smelling it is especially painful to me.
This is completely true. I started smoking at 17 with menthols because they tasted good to me and were easier to inhale. Switched to regular after I got used to them.
Hesitant to reply because your comment seems borderline trolling to me. But as someone who quit smoking after a many years habbit Ive personally never done anything harder.
We're assuming that evolution has a higher chance of creating biotech that will solve problems than biotech we will be able to produce in the future using computational methods? I doubt it.
I've used this strategy consistently for things I don't like, works great! Don't understand why more people don't consider it.
Pretty impressive, don't know if I'd consider ssh a basic computer skills though.. the rest seems rather practical.
Me too.
Bitbucket I use gives you the option as a checkbox upon merging.
I mean.. if it's really that bad you can always walk back and forth in the pool. I really do that sometimes.
I have been the the complete abyss of creating muscular skeletal issues for myself. If you really don't want to mess around I think swimming is the way to go. Couple with curcumin / boswellia / magnesium to take the edge off. If you really nail down the exercise / nutrition etc you can slowly but surely reverse these varieties of problems (personal experience)
Recently attended a meeting led by a DYN executive, he seemed very passionate about what they do.
> The larger the screen, the more you do with it.
I think this is getting at an interesting point. Over the past decade smartphones undertook a rapid and seem less evolution from a fancy gadget into what's now basically a full fledged minature computing device. It still looks relatively the same, but now has a fundamentaly different role in our daily lives, for better or for worse.
This is such an interesting counter point. So really there needs to be a balance in tool choice that finds an optimum between deliverable UX with enough devX so that devs can stay sane enough to get the product built in the first place so the UX can exist.
Surely we're not going to start making arguments that out ultimate UX delivered apps are hand written asembly (at the most absurd end of the argument ;-) )
There are a lot of retail jobs listed here. I don't think they ever required a degree..?
