It depends on the language. I've used debuggers in java, much less in c++, and hardly in go. I feel there is not much of a need in go for debugging, writing good tests and the occasional log/print statement do fine.

Java, often having more complicated structures and layers (more due to the culture, one could write more go-like simpler java as well) is more reliant on debugging. More dynamic (less predictable) languages such as python even more.

Installation with yay/crate can be slow. This small tool took 4 minutes of compile time, the Rust crates seem to be very fine granular (like node.js vor example) and require much compile time. 204 crates needed to be compiled.

I found that, using yay or another aur helper on arch linux, having a few rust utilities installed that have regular updates, significantly slows down the average system upgrade time. I tend to avoid Rust programs for that reason.

I worked on developing a module last year. I see a number of issues, most are shared with many "platform" applications.

Somehow you see especially "enterprise" software being written as a kind of proprietary platform, often like a kind of jvm or .net clone, with some half-baked ORM and lots of moderately documented (at best) infrastructure ("framework" ugh, usually feels like a straightjacket), on top of which one can develop "modules" that are all intertwined and create a dependency hell and a huge dependency on the proprietary platform.

I don't see the point. There are enough open platforms that are at least as good to create "enterprise" functionality, including database frameworks etc. Why would one use a proprietary framework that you have to adapt to, instead of a general purpose platform with some libraries that you can pick and choose from?
