Array | SRE/Backend/Frontend | Remote | https://www.array.com

Array has built a B2B2C platform for credit monitoring and identity protection. We help financial institutions, fintech apps, credit service organizations and leverage credit/identity tools to promote financial health and wellness.

We have been and always will be fully remote with a worldwide workforce. We meet for daily standups on Zoom with our respective teams and collaborate on Slack. We push and deploy code multiple times a day using a modern tech stack.

We are looking for talented backend engineers who know Go or are willing to learn. We are also looking for frontend engineers with interest in vanilla Javascript and Svelte. Lastly, we are building out new infrastructure on GCP using Terraform/Terragrunt and looking for Site Reliability Engineers to support our phenomenal growth.

We are both venture-backed and profitable with a fantastic trajectory ahead of us both in revenue and product roadmap. Our leadership team has built several successful companies in the past.

Check out positions here https://array.com/careers#open-positions or reach out to me (CTO) via phillip at array dot com.

DevOps in my experience often stems from a breakdown of communication/trust between management and developers. Software production and deployment complexity has outpaced the deliverable(s). Traditional IT system admins struggle to keep up with deployments that are way beyond ftp/sync tools. Simultaneously developers are creating microservices each with independent multi-step build processes.

The complexity and problem solving of the job is not automating some widget or service. That is very easy and not a challenge to someone with a deep programming background. The challenge is knowing what to build to a) enable developer productivity and flexibility to b) increase development speed to c) provide products/services the business side can iterate on quickly while d) not completely destroying the infrastructure and lessons learned that already exist and e) providing training and leadership to system admins and developers not used to these processes.

Per site so long as it is a single domain name with 1000 users it is fine. I like it because it is attractive and easy to customize.

If you can get most of the work done in Python then the question becomes: does Python dynamically generate the data/results for your users or do you store the data somewhere and some other tool (PHP for example) can query it to present to the user?

I have been in a similar situation.

Any project like this one can often go off the rails if the right decision makers are not involved. This is not necessarily the fault of the project leader as it can be unintuitive in bureaucracies.

If you start handing out money to every citizen just cause you change the incentive structure. Now the elites are incentivized for less citizens more so than they already are. That could exhibit itself in all kinds of interesting and cruel ways.

Sure nobody denies hiring happens for unfair reasons all the time. That does not mean its not an ideal to hope for. I would expect more from authoritative figures who have already found success in our industry and looking to assist the next generation.

Is it so much to ask that a venture capitalist who is looking for the best and brightest to propel our industry to hire you know... the best and brightest? She should not have to look herself in the mirror and ask "Did I get this because I am qualified, intelligent, and worked hard or because he wants to hit on me?"

Let me phrase it differently. If he had asked her "Would you accept an employment position with us because I find you very attractive?" Do you think she would accept?

Maybe she would but that is besides my point. A little empathy for how she feels demonstrates that she was applying for a job she felt qualified for intellectually and not physically.

It is to admit that I could have said "glad to see he is in therapy and hope he finds his true motivations" but I forgot he mentioned it because it is besides the point. The objective of my comment was to throttle down the "creep shaming" going on in this forum and several others.

Many people sometimes act creepily without even being aware of it. A little empathy as to how the other person feels and what their goals are can help one treat them with the respect they deserve. Hopefully the author can discover when his various desires are appropriate to express in context of the circumstances at hand.

Good catch. I did read that but misplaced it when replying.

I am glad he is seeking help but I hope its for purposes of identifying his desires/behaviors and not only mandated by circumstance.

He completely misses the forests from the trees.

Had the woman been hired she would have been denied by him the satisfaction of knowing she earned the position through her hard work, intelligence, and capabilities.

He also does not seem to recognize why he is a creep. Ultimately we find people creepy when they portray themselves and their motives one way and yet secretly or covertly act another.

I recommend therapy so that he can identify his true desires and motivations and then realign his life to optimize for them.

Marissa comes from Google so I'd like to see more developer focus. Here are some ideas:

- Buy Joyent. Get's you into the cloud game and you gain SmartOS and Node chops.

- Buy BitTorrent and capitalize on its growth and the new sync technology.

- Make YUI popular again in the responsive web era. Tumblr, Flickr, Develpr?

- Probably should stop trying to out-Netflix Netflix. Community was never going to work but I understand the thinking.

- Somebody is going to buy Groove Music (Xbox Music). I hope it's not Yahoo.

This article has put me over the ledge of taking some time to really study Go. Goroutines are starting to sound very attractive.

I guess that's kind of my point. Currently there is no way to divide up a millionth of a penny. Also psychologically I'd rather have $5 than 5/1000 of one.

Also you didn't address my point that rather quickly there would be people with no money. If you did subdivide the pennies I don't see how that's any different than printing more money. It's just what side of the decimal point you want to be on.

Subdividing pennies might be more dangerous actually because presumably you could only do it by a factor of 10. Would we say that on March 31st a dollar is worth 100 pennies but on April 1st its worth 150? Or would we just add another layer of 1000 micro pennies equal one penny? At least with current inflation they can introduce new dollars as they need so inflation is controllable. In your version its not controllable because its mandated by access to the currency itself.

I think it feels scammy because it makes no consideration for past wealth. Anyone who got in early enough and picked up dozens of early coin are now reaping some benefits.

Old money now has to buy it at new rates or ignore it. Some old money decided to buy early and now have considerable impact on its future so thats something. Everyone in between is trying to figure out how having "Disney dollars" helps them. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Jp22_M8wNQ&spfreload=10

From the outside looking in his innocence and over reaching generosity made me skeptical. Especially considering he just signed on. Why does he bear the burden of righting the ship? It feels very coup like.

Credit card fraud has never been a problem for me as a consumer. I just call the bank and its dealt with. If Bitcoin can solve all of those problems then I'd imagine banks would want in on it. The fact they they don't tells me that despite all the scary credit card fraud somebody is making out somewhere.

Say we started with $10,000 and a population of 1,000. Everybody starts with $10. Without inflation and more money being printed how do we handle population growth? Once we hit 1,000,000 citizens either everyone has one penny or a percentage of people go without any money at all.

Some people value friendship and family more than their stock price. They were already wealthy and had lived good lives.

Was it best for Apple stockholders? Maybe not. However I can see that they were truly friends and I envy it. Most ego-maniacs at the top are willing to cut each others throats and heres two who would do anything for each other.
