The big brands like ford who actually know how to make a car are going to swallow Tesla. Tesla had a jump on them for sure, and sold a cool brand, but their cars have major qc issues, the company is a mess, and I do not trust them long term. Bet on the real auto makers.

Nest is a terrible product. The learning aspect did not work at all and their app always takes forever to refresh. I switched to ecobee and couldn’t be happier. HomeKit and home assistant integration without hassle. Google products are generally quite terrible.

They are. You may be seeing more exploits in general because there is monetary incentive to find them, but iPhone is more secure in general especially when it comes to malware. They also have 5 or more years of support for devices and historically patched very old versions for security issues. Unlike android where 10% of the users are on the latest update, if the carrier even supplies it!

I use type annotations in Python no matter what. It really helps skim the code faster and mentally understand what values I am expecting. Its very useful to know which var is a List[dict] and so on.

I don't like TS because javascript is just a silly language to do anything serious with (besides front end), and its so stringent it takes forever to write quickly.

It seems people didn't really understand what I am saying. Calling human rights a political issue makes it seem as if there are two opposing yet equally valid sides... as that is what political means.

Human rights are not political. There is not opposing view to human rights, you just give them to people. Every has the right to respect, equality, etc. Thought that would be pretty obvious.

Making this stuff "political" just devalues the message and progress.

Free speech absolutionism is stupid. You can limit free speech without actually harming anyone (please don’t mention the slippery slope fallacy)

Some things just DONT need to be said. Racial slurs in the wrong context (attacks), holocaust denials, etc. these things have NO positive outcome. None. Nothing at all in the world will change if you ban these things.

We can have free speech while stopping extremism and getting rid of scum like Gab and parlor is the first step.

It’s not a black or white situation.

OCD Is Not a Joke 5 years ago

People who say “I’m so ocd” aren’t making a joke though. They think that is what ocd actually is, quirky and cute.

WSB is using the term autist ironically and it’s completely self aware.

Is part of the strategy using private iOS APIs, tracking everyone outside of ToS, lying about it, getting caught, and then being too large for Apple to actually punish them?

Years of tier 1 experience and trying to replicate those workloads on DO to see what the fuss is about. They are not remotely the same. How is the user experience better? Third party support like Terraform is objectively worse for DO

Ask Mtgox customers how they feel about where to park coins.

Your crypto is _not_ yours unless it is "kept" on a hardware wallet. End of story.

I just cannot fathom why people would use a tier 2 cloud provider over AWS or GCP. It can't possibly be significantly cheaper. The tooling is non-existent. There is little third party tutorials/documentation compared to tier 1.

Why would anyone buy this?

Yes.

The only people who like Azure are managers that get bonuses for their stupid contracts. Azure is not built for engineers. All of their offerings, especially the automation and tooling, are vastly inferior to AWS and GCP

Because GCP has objectively better data services than AWS, and GKE.

EKS sucks. AWS data offerings outside of RDS are not as good as Google's.

AWS hierarchy also sucks. GCP projects/folder mechanism is vastly superior, also org policies.

I have to assume AWS is better.

Lol no. AWS NEVER updates its status page unless it is a massive incident that everyone notices.

As for support, if you pay for the most basic plan you will get a basic answer within 48 hours usually. Its decent. The more you pay, the better the support.
