git reflog would be very difficult to use without them, wouldn't it?
...and our modern phones don't look like the "Phone" or "Dialer" app icons on my phone. Icons are idioms.
...and a lack of understanding that your phone won't work tomorrow can impact your safety. Presumably the phone was near GP's actual surroundings.
Exactly, why check for cars before crossing the road?
If it's dangerous enough, it'll hit you.
Crypto admin and custodian services exist though. If the allegations are true it sounds like scammy people just ran a scam, and crypto made it easier.
Are there other crypto funds that are structured to handle a failure better?
I know it's crypto but it's shocking to see people invest in a suitcase stuffed with dollar bills.
Crypto hedge-funds money is a cold-wallet
Is this the case here, specifically? (I assume so, just curious)
Failed hedge funds aren't new. Can someone with more knowledge explain why liquidating this one is so much more difficult than traditional ones?
What's the next step here, SEC lawsuits?
Yeah without knowing if they made a profit this isn't all that interesting.
This is actually one of the least sophisticated/most expensive methods I've seen for a pump.
I know, still surprised no one has called it that
Tulip mania is the go-to comment for every post about crypto on HN, you don't need the link.
Shocked no one called this a Ponzi scheme yet.
Ether's confusing though because the SEC has explicitly said in the past that "offers and sales of Ether are not securities transactions." https://www.sec.gov/news/speech/speech-hinman-061418
Gensler's comments today suggest the opposite will be true?
The Howey Test
Nothing has been proved, it would be impossible to disprove. Stated without evidence, dismissed without it.
Thank you for some subtlety. I have friends that want Bezos beheaded and want the NYPD union defunded. Put most broadly: you are advocating for the creation of one union advocating for the reduction of another at the same time. And that's ok! Unions are humans and big groups of them need to be kept in check.
That's too broad, you can negotiate things like salary independently. Other things you cannot, and it's often to prevent them from saying "Sally agreed to lower her vacation time to 2 weeks, is that ok with you too?"
I still didn't hear how it prevents you from switching employers.
That's just a list of average salary by country.
Does it show which of these are "UNIONIZED European programmers" and how many are "NON-UNION Americans?" If not, we can dismiss the claim outright.
Base salary or total compensation?
Do you have any data or reason to believe "unionized European programmers don't get paid nearly the same as un-unionized American ones?"
Which is good right?! Nope! Labor markets can reach a point where each job added does not create enough productivity to cover its cost, every next job after that is inefficient ("slack").
With an unemployment rate as drastically low as many right to work states, wage inflation becomes a big issue, so companies hire less efficient employees.

How does being union stop you from negotiating for yourself or switching employers?
"Today, men still quote 'Fight Club'" - Peter C. Baker
It wasn't that hard. Payment was in pre-paid credit cards.
What are the numbers here?
This was intended as a 90-day pop-up, and they reported there were few crypto transactions even before the crash. ApeCoin already wasn't a huge part of this.
The entrepreneur plans another restaurant and is already selling NFTs for it. Their involvement with Yuga Labs was minimal. Bun B paid for the burgers.
Is it possible the entrepreneur still turned a healthy profit? Or that was killed in the crash?
Yeah the first article reports that the FDA "is preparing" to order Juul take its e-cigarettes off market, "according to people familiar with the matter."
This article is the FDA doing that.
No that isn't the reason, from TFA:
in 2019 [Juul] stopped selling sweet and fruity flavors
The [FDA] has cleared the way for Juul’s biggest rivals to keep tobacco-flavored e-cigarettes on the market. Industry observers had expected Juul to receive similar clearance.
You should try reading articles before you comment! The author explicitly states why this is perfectly "proper" and why they prefer it.
Thanks for making an interesting article and only plugging your site at the end. I don't mind submarine ads if I can learn something from them.
