I've switched sides on this issue. I do think LLMs will reduce headcount across tech. Smaller teams will take on more features and less code will be written by hand. It'll be easier to run a startup, freelance or experiment with projects.

it's a known problem with 2024 models, the article points to that. So while tesla may be aware of it, the public unconscious might not be (like the author wasn't), as its a new-ish, and frankly absurd problem to have.

These particles can include synthetic rubber, plastics, carbon black, and trace metals (like zinc)

you're correct. I mistakenly thought it was only carbon coming off the tires. So yeah, EVs have a significantly lower carbon output that ICE vehicles. My point still stands but thanks for the callout.

trams were popular in tons of places before, I understand they improved traffic significantly compared even to today, and they'd still have a positive effect now, I think. But most places shifted towards a car centric focus and we lost those.

EV/hybrid only "zones" in Europe are crazy to me because the electric cars leech more tire carbon into the air anyway. Some regulation seems intelligent on the surface, but the devil is in the details.

people talking about ad revenue... It feels more like a reputational play, ie: throw some free movies out with the WBD logo, more people recognize the brand strength of WBD, then subscribe to Max. Though the selection is small and the movies don't look very good at a glance..

Hi, I couldn't glean from the articles. But it sounds like you have breathing issues from long covid? it may sound ridiculous, but I developed gluten/lactose sensitivity during covid times. If I avoid gluten, lactose, canola oil I get far fewer symptoms. I know this likely isn't your issue but I do experience positive airway pressure, coughing, burping, chronic fatigue, exessive yawning. If that sounds like you maybe a dietary intolerance could be worth checking. For what it's worth, no doctors could diagnose me, they thought I had heartburn or "its in your head". It wasn't, cutting those things out did actually help enormously.

Don't we need to have a pretty low opinion of the average american cognitive skill to feel the need to protect them from foreign propaganda for fear it would take a hold on them

that's naive. Literally leaving CNN on in your living room 3 days a week will eventually change you opinions. Our minds absorb things we hear repetitively, even if we now they might be half truths or lies.

launching a rocket is far more analogulous to shipping a release, than it is running code.

it's been said many times, it's a national security risk, and it is very obviously one. Tiktok has already gone against the wishes of the US, there's evidence Chinese engineers accessed Tiktok data hosted in the US (related: project Texas). It's so easy to sway public opinion when you own the largest megaphone to the people... That's literally what's happening right now on tiktok.

Don't agree with author, but related to the desire to delete social media... I've noticed Instagram has been adding more features to bait time from users. A new one being, if you wait long enough on a given reel, it'll suggest you posts your follows liked (or commented on) in the top right corner. This is super creepy and I imagine could be easily gamed by stalkers. These types of features that try to engage me even deeper have made me consider actually removing IG altogether like I deleted Facebook a long time ago

my understanding is that whenever new products at big tech are made, they throw a bunch of MBAs at it to try to monetize/extract any value. If that is the case, it makes sense that innovation slows down as the engineers arent steering

I agree with Marks take on the iPhone/android bubble debacle. Apple deserves to be called out the way he describes, they "bullied" non-iphone users under the guise of "security".

I suspect I have this problem too, any chance you could describe your symptoms a bit? I get digestive issues but no heartburn, and then my airways get inflamed..

I switched to almost exclusively veggies, meats, and gluten substitutes. I feel significantly better, but still struggle

I want to know more too. My understanding is these vehicles will only light on fire like this if the battery experiences thermal runaway, which means the battery is toast at that point I would imagine? I've heard when the battery goes in a model 3, the doors don't work normally and you need an emergency release. That said, 1 dead 7 injured... I imagine there was more than one in the vehicle?
