The ZX Spectrum ROM loader is 1500bps and some games loaded at over 3000. There wasn't any encoding, just straight-up 1s and 0s straight into RAM.

The 68k has both signed and unsigned 32/16 bit divide instructions.

Can you isolate those parts more specifically and compare them instead? That would probably be more informative.

If OP wants to work abroad in the future - where I come from getting a skilled visa having a degree is an advantage. Not having a degree is not a problem either. But trying to get a visa having dropped out definitely counts against you.
