Then you missed the bit about how writing to disk automatically disqualifies you from horizontal scalability...

I'm sorry.. I don't understand the fanatical devotion and sacrifice(for example, having a nervous breakdown, or leaving a job for some startup when you've got wife and family because of devotion to the python community) for scripting languages that are all more-or-less the same +- curly braces as ruby/python/perl/php/C whatever. Look for something else to be interested in--OCaml and F#.

it's about comfort zones, my 17-yo will take out the trash, but only to the screened in porch, not to the can. He also won't walk around the corner to get the can if it is still in the driveway, he will leave the trash exposed to racoons on the deck near where the can is supposed to be. Comfort zones...

side project. side language... I think mine might be ocaml--can't stop looking at it, though I've tried I know there's no application other than a side project. Something has to have a bit of soul...

look at softpanorama regarding lots of years, it just gets frustrating.

every time I try to uniquely associate my identity with some technology or programming language, reality pulls the rug out from under me... i give up, perhaps it's time to invent my own in my zero minutes of spare time.
