These guys are massive scammers, I worked with them over multiple projects and the only thing I remember is by the end of each one, everyone was memeing on them for how poorly made everything they did was.

Their stock price is currently suffering because of how poorly iPhones are doing in places with real competition (i.e. China), the iPhone 16 when put side by side with Chinese phones just makes the iPhone look like a cheap knock-off. Even 90hz would fix most of these problems (and the panel is more than capable of it).

They're fixing it on the iPhone 17 because of the above reasons, but it shows how badly their market research teams are doing that they even remotely thought it was acceptable on the 15, let alone the 16.

I know Apple wants to differentiate ProMotion as a Pro feature, but even non-tech people I know are wondering why Android phones run smoother than iPhones. Stuff that would be completely unheard of purely because of how noticeable 60hz vs 120hz is.

Actual reputational damage is going on because of these poor decisions, I’m not surprised iPhones are struggling to obtain new market share. They just look like old and slow phones to most normal people now, “look how nice and smooth it looks” is such an easy selling point compared to trying to pretend people care about whatever Apple Intelligence is.

Most companies are way too incompetent to even know how to secure their own data because it is just too expensive to actually hire someone that knows what they're doing - so most of the "cybersecurity" industry is just grifters talking about buzzwords and building dashboards to show how good they are at patching CVEs.

I have had to tell multiple cybersecurity vendors that brag about working with huge companies and governments that we cannot work with them because of how poor their own cybersecurity practices are (i.e. not using secure compute/hardware crypto when dealing with our private keys).

These are companies that should know better, I have had to stop ADP professional services more than once from disabling certificate validation on critical pipelines pertaining to confidential employee and customer information. I do not want to imagine what happens at 99% of companies with cybersecurity teams that don't even know what certificate validation is.

If you subscribe to Paramount+ in the TV app, you get the entire library in a higher bitrate compared to actually using Paramount+, it’s incredible how unwatchable some shows were bc P+ basically just thought 1080p 8mbps H264 was good enough for everyone.

I didn't say Messenger wasn't successful. I said that Meta rewrote Messenger twice and did not meet their internal goals both times.

Even today you can see Messenger completely break down if you have to sync for more than ~30 seconds. JS console fills up with errors about your broken state as you start to lose messages. Local storage is out of sync, session state breaks, and it's all right there in the console. It's been like this for years on WebKit. React just has too many bugs for a complex behemoth like Messenger.

React Native is just as bad and basically everyone I know in real life can corroborate lost messages, broken group chats, horrible photo experiences, and memory leaks!

You can just look at Messenger vs WhatsApp and the difference is just night and day in the user experience. The e2ee backends are the same (according to my pcaps, I could be lying), it's purely the front end that changes - and you won't find anyone that says Messenger is better than WhatsApp.

Of course it's not a "react problem". It's a skill issue created by the reality that React is incredibly difficult to scale in large projects.

Watching Meta rewrite Messenger twice without success was enough for me to never touch React for any large project, especially after that botched e2ee chat rollout.

Which is exactly how it’s supposed to work in the first place, individual states are really the only entities that even have the power to enforce any sort of regulation here anyways. Telecom was always handled by states, the feds only stepped in when it was inter-state.

This was going to happen regardless, T-Mobile basically threw throttling in their face and they had no choice but to pretend it was fine, and they’ll be doing the same with home internet soon enough (followed by CableCos in non-competitive areas).
