Can you share the code for this?
Honestly, I'm not surprised. The corruption shows in the quality of their reviews, which has decreased significantly. The Atlantic has a story on it: https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2023/08/wirec...
Sorry but this attitude towards material goods, while quite common in America, is quite depressing.
I would really like to see some research around PEX piping. How does it handle hot water? Does it release microplastics as well?
While that area is usually pretty quiet, it is pretty close to the on-ramp to the Bay Bridge. This is purely speculation, but it is plausible that the crime was perpetrated by someone from the East Bay looking for a quick getaway.

This article touches on some: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/17/technology/svb-tech-start...
I’m curious to know if anyone has “implemented” any of these approaches in their own life…

Yeah, it’s very distressing. It seems that there is often a correlation between religious thinking and hoping for a miracle that defies reason.
Oh the irony.
No.
I would (no pun intended). Why not?
Don’t be so hard on yourself.

When I learned that NYT is a publicly traded company, that totally changed my perspective on them.
The author really buried the lede here:
And for exercise it would be just as simple. I would do weight training 3x a week, ala Starting Strength, because it's the only form of exercise I actually enjoy doing. That's it. Beyond that would just be whatever recreational activities we did with friends over weekends.
Weight training can be very helpful for weight loss in a way that is distinct from cardio exercise. Everyone's body is different though -- for some people cardio is all they need. See the book Cardio Sucks by Michael Matthews for a defense of weight training over cardio though.
And doing something that is fun -- something that you enjoy doing, is key. This applies to both diet and exercise and pretty much everything in life that you want to sustain.
definitely recommend taping up windows. nice to see some data to back this up.

I don't think they are.
Anyone know if this could have been caused by Covid-19? There have been reports of strokes due to it.
Seems like Clearview AI for the public?
It seems like a significant difference -- see how Hong Kong is doing. It needs to be combined with other interventions including social distancing, contact tracing, testing, quarantining. These measures are all additive to each other.

Sorry I was just clarifying that we don’t need to wait for better materials. Homemade masks from common materials, when enough of the population (>80%) uses them, can get us where we need to be.
Thanks for backing me up, but if the goal is to prevent asymptomatic transmission, homemade masks made from common materials like cotton and paper towels can be 99% effective at preventing _egress_ of respiratory droplets.
The goal of wearing masks is to stop people from spreading their germs, effectiveuly bringing down the R0 value of the virus, slowing the spread, flattening the curve.
The real challenge is that we need about 80% of people to wear masks to really put a dent in things. Really, everyone should be advocating for everyone they know to wear a mask.
See this site for research backed info if you are not convinced: https://www.fast.ai/2020/04/20/skeptics-masks/
This is why everyone should wear a homemade face mask when they are out in public near other people.
Not surprising at all.
Question to the author (mathdev?): does this calculator take into account: 1) the effect of viral load/dose on outcome/severity 2) current data on rates of asymptomatic carriers?
Yeah, they were probably worried that you were sick.
But overall, it helps signal to everyone that you are taking precautions seriously.
And the more people who wear masks, the less stigma there is associated with wearing them.
The macro impact can be huge:
"If 50% of the population were to wear masks, only 50% of the population would be infected by the virus. Once 80% of the population wears a mask, the outbreak can be stopped immediately." https://www.researchgate.net/publication/258525804_Testing_t...
