I wonder if they just recently decided to go with the CM4 module and failed to update the specs to match. The video shows them using the CM3 module, which does have lesser wifi/bt specs.

My only wish for v2.0 of this would be an integrated touchpad so I don't have to use a separate mouse. Similar to a Logitech K400 wireless keyboard. I don't know how many times I've been in a situation where it's challenging to find a surface to use a mouse on when I'm working on a Pi project. Workshop, electronics bench, just doing something real quick on my lap, etc.

That's not what was said. A "single person" cannot make a lead pencil. I agree. Ask yourself whether the Primitive Technology guy could make a pencil in the middle of the Australian rain forest. He can make a lot of great things, but in order to make a pencil, he would need additional tools, and those tools would be made by someone else, hence the statement that "a single person cannot make a pencil."

I'm guessing here, but it could be possible that the actual heating of the filament is done entirely with the laser, and the job of the heated nozzle is simply to keep the filament at temperature all the way until it is extruded. It may have not been possible or feasible to combine the laser heater and nozzle, hence the need for both parts.

It's not the ground surface that's causing the reactive lifting force, it's simply the thrust caused by the water jets. Unless the ground ends up blocking a jet, the shape and orientation of the ground shouldn't have an effect.

I bought one and played with it over the holidays and there are a ton of OS options now. There's Armbian support now, which wasn't around at first, and it seems to be very stable and feature complete. The board is significantly more powerful than a Pi 3 with emulators and compiling and just about everything.

Full color. But as mentioned elsewhere in this thread, it's nothing new. Printer's with this functionality have been around for 15+ years. HP is like Apple, take an existing technology, sprinkle liberally with hip marketing, and boom! -- act like you invented it.

Came to say this. I wonder if this hack is widely known, because it seems like this is a pretty clever way to use the Pi Zero in some applications that would be better served with a multi-core processor and don't require the GPU for video tasks. Hacking the Pi Zero to be a dual-core system essentially.

SR-1? "Stuff aviation legend"? I'd expect a little better editing from Popular Mechanics.

Some of my classmates in college all went to a city a couple of hours away for a weekend, in a not so new car, and the car quit them about half way there. Turns out a car full of "mechanical engineers" drove an hour on the interstate with the car in 3rd gear because the gear selector didn't quite make it to D. Cooked the engine and I think they ended up totaling the car. They were top students too. That definitely reaffirmed my belief that GPA is a poor indicator of a quality engineer.

I was heavily involved in solar car racing during college, so much so that my grades suffered because of it. But for the most part that didn't matter. Most recruiters I spoke to ended up being much more interested in the stories I could tell about all the challenges we had as a team and the novel solutions we invented to overcome them. I knew that if I talked to a recruiter and they only focused on my GPA, then that was a good sign I didn't want to work there. After my first job, GPA became irrelevant. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. Fifteen years later, I still count my teammates as some of my best friends.

Just installed it on a Zero I had laying around and I'm surprised by the general responsiveness of the UI. Of course, now that I played with it for five minutes I'll turn off the GUI and go direct to CLI like every other Pi I have. Trying to get weewx up and going on my Zero.

A lot of Chromebooks are still shipping with 2GB of RAM and they do a perfectly sufficient job of running the "Internet" for most everyday users. I would argue your lower limit of a reasonable Internet browsing experience is higher than average because of your technical background. 512MB would be limiting for sure, but a machine with 2GB of RAM running a Linux desktop, especially with an SSD if possible, would make a fine everyday laptop.

*edit: Forgot to mention also that ad blocking aids tremendously in making the internet more usable on underpowered machines.

That's not really how it looks in the pictures on their site. It looks more like they are butted together with no overlap. Also, I'd think you'd want just as much overlap on the long side for weatherproofing. This does raise an interesting question; how are they weatherproofing this installation?

Any idea why the solar cells aren't packed more densely? It looks like there's a lot of wasted space on due to a square cell centered on a rectangular tile.

There are plenty of other fire-able offenses that even CEO's aren't immune to. Being an asshole isn't one, but you can't just say that if he was performing well, he'd never be fired.

I specifically said lose fat instead of saying lose weight. I bet you are in better overall shape and your cardiovascular system is much better than if you had not ridden that 2000 miles. Weight alone is a poor measure of health, imo.
