I think people “mind their own business” out of concern for their own safety. The increases in gun ownership, road rage incidents, and mass shootings has certainly impacted my impulse to correct someone in public.
Big government is bad.
Unless there is a book, drug, or out-group we can use big government to control.
I find it odd how people refuse to admit that Musk has made some errors. He is a human who takes big swings, and has his share of failures to prove it. It's ok to admit that. I'll note, there is no mention of "Thud" [0], another failure of his.

Tesla bought Solar City for $2.6 billion in 2016. In 2019, they targeted 1,000 installations a week. In 7 years, Tesla has installed a total of 3,000 solar systems, getting to about 20 installations a week. Add in the fact that he purchased the company from his own cousins and the story looks worse. Or maybe they find the results useful/insightful. I don’t think being cynical about other people’s motives really helps us understand human behavior.
Could you share your source please? I am getting conflicting results. The recently released American Time Use Survey 2022 [0] has it closer to 9 hours. Those 9 hours also include "naps and spells of sleeplessness."

The linked article might help clarify things. The percentage of power from coal and nuclear power were both down considerably:

If someone believes a technology is revolutionary, investing money in it is the most rational thing to do, right?
The same could be said about the microprocessor or any other tech innovation throughout history. They all lead to new companies chasing investment dollars.

I think we are in a loop. All the cars are big, so the only way to feel safe when driving is to have a big car.
Just look at Ford trucks. The current Ranger is as big as the old F-150. Everything is a quad cab, 20 years ago those were rare.
Or maybe we can see through the national news' political agenda and sensationalism.
The people who actually live in Chicago just elected a progressive mayor who ran against a "tough-on-crime" candidate. Maybe those people (the ones living in the city) see things differently than you (someone not living in the city).

Limited examples? The consent decree alone comes from decades of datapoints collected by the Federal government. You should read it.
I live in Chicago and have no idea what you are talking about. The local newspapers and tv are constantly talking about these issues. Crime and CPS were by far the primary discussions in the recent election. Who and where are these people refusing to talk about them?

Are you not familiar with the CPD (Chicago Police Department)? The police probably have more of an impact on the topic at hand (crime and violence) than CPS.
They are far more shameful, dysfunctional, and incompetent than CPS. From forced confessions [1] to planting drugs [2] to electing radical leaders [3]. They are on a Federal consent decree because of their ineptitude and violations of civil rights [4].
