Its pretty annoying, for almost a decade all js questions have j query solutions, if you ask for that in reactjs or god forbid, vanilla js, which also went through many api changes, its still a duplicate.

Often itscthe same for css, where grid and flexbox are now standards, the old questions with replies full of vendor prefixes and very hacky solutions should be deprecated or transferred to archives.

Btw, how do the blog posts copying so questuons monetize and how does google not shut them down, the pages dont even work, I thought google would know better?

Why exactly should banks be private companies at all?

Theyre just skimming middle man between the government and end consumer.

Sure, the government would know your bank balance and spendings, but that could be worked around

If youre in trouble with the irs or the law, the government will have all the insight they request.

Sounds crazy? We the people had to bail them out and never get anything of their profits.

Too big to fail? As in systemic risk?

Well, only the state should be too big to fail.

And if they fail, the fdic needs to cover, also tax payer funded.

Any input is appreciated. I know the interest rate should be set by banks and not the politicians, but yeah, is that really it?

Addendum, this post has triggered an interesting discussion, it appears I am not alone with my thoughts.

So far, I do not see any ovewhelmingly convincing argument on why the banks shouldnt be run by the government. It doesnt have to be senate, it can be something relatively neutral like the irs.

As a former amazonian, I am actually a bit surprised to read this.

Am outside on mobile, so I have to be brief.

During covid, there was this mercy period for delayed deliveries, as it wasnt really amazon causing the delay, but rather the last mile service or the whole supply chain.

They used to absolutelly always refund no questions asked and depending on the service they would send return labels.

If you have worked at amazon, then you will know this can only happen due to comingling(usa issue mostly) or malicious sellers in for a quick buck.

To make money with bad products its pretty hard on amazon, they will simply refund the orders the buyers request a refund for and additionally hold the sellers fund in reserve until account health metrics are sorted out.

That, or amazon has changed their overall strategies making refunds now harder, but all their internal rules speak against that.

Their first level support is so so, their second level and seller support is sonething of the best in the world.

Keep in mind, the final buyer is not their customer, the seller is. But brand pr comes before sellers, make no mistake.

I dont know, but London is pushing very agressively towards that goal.

I am not sure if its a good idea, nothing seems to be a good idea in London, but the congestion charge and the newer diesel charges surely add up.

And predictably, some of the worst usual suspects are exempt.

Andon is a very good concept, better to habe than not to have, 90% of the agents are very skilled and knowledgeable.

Much better than having to forward to a teamleader or other department.

Sometimes, theres no other way and 10% of the andon advisors perhaps shouldnt be in that role.

Amazon also has some sort of nesting for new starters which is honestly there to help learn, not as a pressure tool.

Many startups and well established corporations cant even hold a candle to them on these matters.

It will get flagged eventually.

No, really, I have worked at amazon in a job exactly around product compliance and such.

All this is very hard to solve and they do what they can, people wont believe it, but amazon is not just an app, the heavy lifting part is logistics, admin thereof and compliance.

Theres no easy way to be fraudulent on amazon, the cost of market entry for sellers is rather big.

Mislabeled products and bad account health have terrible consequesnces for sellers.

I do understand it might appear from the outside that nobody cares, but it looks different once inside.

As for the allegations a profit/benefit calculation being behind it is most likely wrong, amazon, apart from fullfilment center staff is always overhiring to be ready for peak seasons and the whole thing is subsidized via aws, the real money maker.

Well, its was worth almost nothing, so there.

There are a couple 1000 people who will be awaiting a salary this or next week, it is a bit a financial pandorras box, but with the properties of a bottomless pit.

In all seriousness, I know a couple cs folks with rather expensive flats and habits, this will not end too good for some of them.

Do not worry about the Swiss, they know to launder money even without american clientele. They have many buddies in Liechtenstein with odd funds, charities never yet seen in the so called leaks.

The historic reasons for the us taking a at the swiss have been the hidden, non declared tax moneys from american people and corporations. The Swiss had a cloaking system in place called banking secrecy, it was even codified into law.

America wanted whats owed to them and that was it.

Swiss bankers would fly to the us physically, in person, pick up funds and goods like diamonds and transport them to switzerland without declaring anything. All the little tricks like labelling the funds fraudulently, diamonds in a toothpaste tube, that was part of the service portfolio.

The us promised to sue and the whole decisionmakers knew they will be safe nowehere but in switzerland, a small country with sub par weather, and if the us got hold of them, they will spend a good time of their lifes behind bars. The swiss banking secrecy laws were thus burried for good. The swiss still had the cheek to blather about data protection and privacy and then agreed to hand over a portfolio of "suspicious" accounts.

How hypocritical this was was shown later on, when it became impossible in switzerland and europe for americans to open bank accounts unless employed in Switzerland and being residents.

You say banks have a bad reputation overall, but somehow the swiss banks had a better reputation, even though they are on a level with a carribean tax haven operator.

Well, neutrality goes both ways, does it not?

If the world supports Ukraine, but Switzerland refuses to support them, no matter who the opponent is, then that is neutrality.

Knowing the Swiss system very well, it would surprise me if there have been nefarious intents and ideas behind this.

Do not underestimate their cleverness.

Small country, suddenly rich with no worthwhile exports, all the big corps incorporated there because they feel the rule of law is given and functional and the money safe and the institutions work.

Small country, if you go from the centre of zurich, you will see one corporation after the other for a 30 mile radius, shoulder to shoulder. Its a remarkable amount of the liveable territory.

Really, do not underestimate their greed and cleverness.
