Fracking has nothing to do with horizontal drilling. Fracking is used to increase the connectivity of the reservoir to the wellbore, in the case of low permeability reservoir. For geothermal applications there is no reason to pick the low perm and increase the cost of well completion.

Horizontal directional drilling is a very established field, which is very technologically intensive and some of the things we can do in this area are nothing short of amazing. Basically any trajectory can be executed, including some smart things like underground loops. Couple this with electric submersible pumps (ESP), which help to increase the flow and potentially run water through several cycles to maximize the contact with hot payzone before getting it to surface and you can do many interesting things.

I've been operating home cluster (on-prem and lately hybrid with cloud instances) for several years now, running a lot of self-hosted applications for my family.

To be frank I struggle to understand what kubevpn does. While I may be missing something important, the quality of the documentation and description is lacking. Documentation is key as you are learning, so I suggest you don't use it and just focus on deploying and using k8s to host something.

IMO, k3s is the best distribution for hobbyists, by far. If you want to add connectivity to it - k3s supports tailscale now and I can confirm that it is quite stable.

My experience was different. I have a particular question, which I am yet to see any model to answer correctly and I just tried it out.

Q: "what are the major economic and earnings events next week and how they can affect SPX volatility and price?"

A: It gave a long and nicely formatted answer with clever visuals, using the right words about FOMC and inflation. Coherent reasoning overall, albeit quite shallow. But the economic and earnings calendars for next week are complete hallucinations, even the dates, so the whole analysis is nonsense:

As Ukrainian, who was very (pleasantly) surprised at ineptitude of Russian military I changed my mind about nuclear war recently...

Of course hindsight is always 20/20, but even before the war I had the arguments with some of my friends that modern Russia cannot produce anything at a modern world class level. How it can be possible if they pay 40k RUB to Senior Engineers working in military or space organizations, while you can get 90k RUB working as a "Sales Consultant" in electronics store. Add to this the record levels of corruption; inept leadership being assigned because of their political affiliation, rather than knowledge and experience (just check Rogozin) and you will find hard not to agree with me.

This incompetence manifests itself at all levels - starting from glorious leader Putin, who managed to convert pro-Russian Ukraine into the "NATO state" in less than 20 years; secret agents, who cannot kill a person without leaving a radioactive trace throughout the whole country and the success of "military operation" we see now.

Anyhow, obviously I'd prefer not to test my assumptions, but I believe that Russia has no hypersonic missiles - they planned to have it in production in summer, 2022 and we know what it means in Kremlin-speak. So far it's all cartoons, like their new 5th-gen aircrafts and MBTs. And I am quite confident that the vast majority of their warheads and missiles are long gone...

I am Ukrainian, living in US, but have plenty of Russian friends and (still) some connections with people living in Russia.

My strong believe is that there is pretty high support of Putin in Russia, especially around mainstream population, I'd estimate at least 40-50%. This is related to 20+ years of propaganda and phantom pains of USSR collapse. West people should not be delusional. Of course it is also not black and white - not liking West in general is one thing, supporting Putin's war is another.

Finally, I hope you realize that by asking here you will get a _very_ distorted view.

I don't think upgrades change this configuration. I use Arch, which is a rolling release distro, so maybe this is a factor, but I didn't have any issues with upgrades, apart from one time when Framework released FW upgrade few months ago, which overwrote the boot record (took 15min to fix/recover), but that is a different story...

On Linux? Yes.

Changing the mode is just a matter of changing one line in one file. But getting hibernate to actually work is a bit of hassle, especially if you have any kind of encryption or non-standard file system. This said - I managed to get mine working on encrypted Btrfs.

Anecdotal, so obviously YMMV.

On battery - I am using "sleep then hibernate", which typically means 4-6% of battery drain overnight which happens while it is in first ~2hrs of sleep mode. Of course it means you now spend 30sec booting up, but I can live with that.

On touchpad - weird, my experience is opposite. I'd say this is the closest to Macbook experience I had, no issues whatsoever.

Speakers are a bit quiet, agreed, no static or anything, we occasionally use it to watch Netflix with my wife, while away from TV, interchangeably with her Macbook and definitely wouldn't call it garbage.

So, all in all I am in "quite happy" camp. Yes, not Macbook killer, but for me it is close enough and without any major inconveniences, but with all OSS benefits and presumably infinite upgradeability. I use Arch btw :)

Like many others I too admire Drew's work. But one thing I appreciate the most is the visual style and usability of Sourcehut. I don't know what it is exactly (am not a UX or visual designer myself, although work with them a lot), but to me it is one of the most aesthetically appealing sites I visit.

Good product, but still can't beat Cointracking in my opinion by number of features, supported APIs and looks less polished. The pricing ($1k? seriously?) is non competitive, either. Cointracking prices are quite ridiculous as well. It's good to see a competition, but overall I feel like the early adopters community so far is being screwed by startups like this. $1k for a glorified excel spreadsheet is a joke
